Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

risk question

Hey guys,
Here is my story/question

10 days ago I participated in a make out session that lead to mutual masterbation with another guy of unknown status. During this incident we I proceeded to lick his testicles and put them in my mouth briefly. We briefly dry humped during this time and our penis did touch side by side. After more kissing I climaxed and it was over.

7-10 days later I started to have sever itching , no rash but just itching on my face/facial hair, eyes and hair on my head. I am assuming this is just from stress and dry skin but wanted to put it all out there and ask you guys on here for your opinion on this matter and if or what risk I may have put myself in. I know this is a what if, but do symptoms of any STI's even show up at 7 days from exposure?

You did NOT have a risk , not even a remote risk for HIV in the situation you described . 

HIV is sexually acquired during unprotected vaginal and anal sex , as long as you are wearing condoms consistently and correctly you will avoid HIV . Its really that simple .

THank you for your reply.
I did go to a walk in clinic where the doctor said I have a rash on my face and prescribed me cream. Its not a generalized rash its all over and no fever.
I know you said NO RISK , I understand but I am just working my mind in overtime now because of the rash and the timing of it.

Regardless of my story, is 7 days after a potential exposure still too early to show ARS signs?

The bottom line is you couldn't possible have ARS from licking or sucking a mans testicles . In the time I have been doing risk assessments for HIV ,  yours ranks right up there with the biggest NO RISK case I ever responded too . So its OK to get on with your life and forget about it .

To answer your question ... the average time to seroconvert is 4 to 6 weeks and the CDC recommends testing at 6 weeks post exposure and again at 3 months to confirm your results .

Keep this in mind .  ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care checkup, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine checkups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

Another question that's been on my mind, in this same scenario if my partner tasted his own pre - cum then I made out with him could that pose any sort of risk, or no strictly sex?

That would also be no risk . Saliva contains proteins and enzymes that damage HIV and render it unable to infect ... so there is no risk , strictly .
