Hello, Joaco. You had a risk but a very low level one.

It's good that you realized so quickly that the condom had broken. As the insertive partner you would be a less risk than the receptive one. And we are speaking of a one-time only event. All of those factors work in your favor significantly if the other fellow is HIV+.

You can get tested initially at 6 weeks after the event. If the result is negative as I expect it will be, then in all likelihood you will test negative again at 3 months for a conclusive result.

Condom breaks are not unsual. For whatever comfort it maybe, despite many reports of that happening I have not yet found anyone to become infected that way. Good luck with your testing.

OK, good luck to you. Glad our exchange was helpful to you. And I do see the odds as being significantly in your favor that you will test negative.

You cannot get HIV from licking a guy's butthole (aka as rimming).

However, other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV so in general we recommend that anyone who is sexually active ought to at least annually have a full std panel done and more frequently if there are any problematic symptoms.

But no, HIV is not an issue when rimming.

Our focus here is strictly on HIV.

You would need to discuss other STDs with your doctor. They can include a sore on your penis and various other symptoms. Rimming is somewhat risky for STDs because the anus is the germiest opening in the body. That doesn't mean you will catch something. But it's possible so if anything happens that doesn't feel right physically, discuss it with your doctor.

joaco,

No, a dry mouth is NOT a symptom of hiv. Drink more water.

What I think is that it is never a good idea to base your knowledge of your own HIV status on what a sexual partner of yours has said about his being negative.

In your case you've had a very low level risk because of the broken condom. So the wise thing is to get tested at the appropriate time. Then you know your status for sure and yes, I do expect you to test negative. As I said, it was a low level risk.

If you decide to get tested I expect a negative result for you. Giving oral is only theoretically a risk. Your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms properly everytime for those activites and you will be well protected.
