The timing is right, but it is only theoretical
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:21:46 pm »
Hello. Best info on the web hands down.
So i would just like to share my oraldeal if i may. January 15 i picked up a prostitute after consuming too many beers. Received unprotected fellatio for about 10 mins and it just wasn't happening. Fastforward 3-4 days and i notice a purplish sort of chancre inside the tip of my penis. (OMG) Few days later my urethra is burning, but i have no discharge. It did not hurt to urinate either. Went to clinic on the 23rd for testing. Can not believe i did not get a call. So now it's Feb 6-7 and i start getting a headache. Only thing is it gets worse and my neck and lower back are stiff.(meningitis without fever)  I'm itchy across my chest and back of neck aswell. So now i'm freakin because this is right in line with seroconversion and such. The weird thing is i never had a fever or sore throat or any of the other symptoms. I'm just confused. The only thing that's keeping me sane is the science and literature that i have read here. Keep looking up for a meteorite coming at me though. I so much want to believe the facts. This is just so insanely coincidental. By the way i got the courage up and went to a true std clinic on Feb 21 to appease my worries. Thanks so much in advance for any comments or opinions.

You were never at risk of contracting HIV from receiving oral sex.

tristus,

While you absolutely did not have a risk for hiv infection when you got a blowjob, you were at risk for some of the other, much more easily transmitted STIs.

You need to have a full panel of STI testing (your initial tests may have been done a little too soon). Make sure they test you for syphilis, along with gonorrhea and chlamydia.

You only need to test for hiv if you've never tested for it before, or if it's been a year or more since your last hiv test.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY FOR HIV OVER A BLOWJOB, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank-You very much for your comments Ann. I greatly appreciate that.
You folks on here are very informed and factual, which is what alot of the other sites are lacking.  I wish you all the best! 8)
