Hi everyone!
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:08:58 am »
Ok- Deep Breath.....Here I go! :)
My name is not Snowangel:).....where the hell did I come up with that name?  It must have been snowing and the kids wanted to go out and play?
I can't even tell you guys how happy I am to find this forum.  I actually have tears in my eyes now as I am typing.  It was kind of funny, I found this website almost 3 weeks ago and I registered.  I was like " Cool, I have some place to talk to people like me, finally!"  I got the email back that they have to go over my registration and they will notify me when my account will be active.  OK, I'm thinking a day or two.  A week later or so later, no email.  I reply to the email they had sent when I first set up the account.  Don't hear back for another week.  Meanwhile, I am reading everyones posts and really wanting to reply, wondering what the hell I said ,thinking I must have really pissed someone off. I went and read all the rules again, thinking I missed something. I went and got the ingredients for one of Minismom recipes.  ( The kids and I have since been sick and they started a new program in school but I will let you know how everyone likes the Porcupine Balls :) ) But anyway....I am checking daily and still not set-up.  Finally ,I find an for email Peter ,the editor, and in like an hour I am good to go. (Peter...YOU THE MAN) It turns out my IP white listed this website and so I had to set up with another email address.  If any of you newbies have comcast and are anxiously waiting for a return email...IT AIN'T COMING.  Get a yahoo, hotmail or some other free account. Ok, it wasn't funny, it kind of stressed me out but its all good now.
So anyHOO...I have been taking meds since 94 since reading everyones posts I have been thinking of "my story" and I think I was infected in early 91.
In Dec 90 , I had just started a new job and had new health insurance so I went to the OB and had all the tests run.  I was clean. I met a guy not too long after that and thought we had similiar interests, I asked him if he had been tested and he said he had and was good. I should have used a condom.  Everything turned out to be a lie which I figured out after it was too late - the mental, verbal and physical abuse had already started.  I exceled everyday at my job and went home to a living hell.  To make a long story short, he ended up in jail and finally told me about the HIV.  The abuse continued while he was behind bars.  He threatened to call my job, threatened have someone physically hurt me and my mother.  I was alone and had no one to turn to.  I stayed with him because I was too scared to do anything else.  I made the mistake of telling him- the one thing that I hated about being poz was that I was never going to be able to have kids.  He got me pregnant by slipping off the condom and I had my son in 98.  They are not lying when they say children are blessings.  It only took one time of me seeing fear in my sons eyes and I figured out how to get away.  It was a long, hard road but we survived.  I finally told my mother about my HIV status and what was really going on with my sons father.  She was scared at first but I took her to meet my doc and I had a wonderful ID nurse that sat down with her and explained everything.  Unfortunately, I have to show a brave face and see my sons father every other weekend but I Thank GOD it is not more.
I met my fiance online in 99.  We were off more than on until 03 when I had the twins +1.  They are 4 now and just this past week is the first time they got into all day school.  I feel bad but I am so happy to finally have some time for myself.  I am just so tired :)
All in all I am very lucky to have been blessed with four beautiful, healthy children.
I am very happy to be on Truvada, Norvir and Reyataz ONCE a day :)  Taking a handful of meds 2/3X a day really sucked but not as bad a chewing up the nasty Videx tablets. UUUGGHHH!
Again....I am so happy to find these forums and I look forward to talking to you all.  ;D
Take care,
Snow

Hi Snow, let me be the first lady to welcome you to the women's forums.  Please, join us in the dating thread.  They're not all about dating; that's where we girls get together to just discuss daily "stuff."  Cin (Moonlight) can provide links to all the previous ones.  We're on like #17.

Your story is very familiar.  My first husband (the one who infected me) was very abusive.  I went into drug/alcohol treatment in 1989, tested positive, and he died three days after that.  I have a 23 year old daughter (by him) who is negative.  So I don't ever have to see him.  Not that I would anyway; he never did pay child support and was constantly in jail.

You're in a good crowd here.  We're all here to help each other and listen.  Hope to hear more from you!
Peace~
Betty
