worried, seeking advice

hi,

just wondering if someone could help with this problem. i recently slept with a female sex worker that was protected. however she did give me oral sex that was not protected, also im pretty sure there was no condom breakage, but there might have been, if there was i cant recall, i was drunk so i cant remember if it broke or not. 2 weeks after the encounter i started to get symptoms associated with hiv, rash all over body, swollen glands in the groin, diarrhea, nausea, white tounge, aches in the joints. so yes i panicked an went to an std clinic an was tested for stds, they came back negative. 3 weeks after the encounter i had blood tests done, these came back negative. do you think i am a risk? and also is 3 weeks a long enough period to test negative without the possibility of that changing, like me actaully having hiv?

Hi pat , you didn't have a risk , if the condom had broken you would have known it because they are designed to fail catastrophically when they do . getting a blow job isn't a risk for HIV .

 To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME FOR THIS INCIDENT , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

what do u think about the 3 week testing, i no it was very early for testing ( didnt get it done in a clinic, i had in done through work) but at least do you think it was a good sign and strong possibility that that wont change if i had of been a high risk, hypothetically, ( might help others reading this) i know they say 6 weeks is the right time for blood test, but is there like a percantage of probability after a certain number of weeks, i read somewhere that 2 week blood test is 50% accurate result that wont change from negative to positive, 3 weeks is 75%, 4 weeks 90% and so on. do you think that that is BS or is that actaully true or close to it?
as for the symptoms is it just a coincidence that i had them or is it possible that i have caught something a less serious even though std results came back negative or am i just freaking out an it could have been nothing, just strange the way i had them symptoms and this 'problem'?
thanks again for the help and advice sorry if my questions may be ridiculous/stupid or annoying, just need all the answers i can get off someone who knows there stuff about these problems

The only way to know your HIV status is to test at the appropriate time and that's 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 3 months to confirm it .

We get asked allot about symptoms but the truth is symptoms are not specific to HIV so its no good even discussing them .

You didn't have a risk so you can count the test you had as conclusive if you haven't any other risk 3 months before . If you insist on testing again the guidelines I provided are the testing window periods provided by the CDC .
