Dan is in hospital. Not well.
« on: November 02, 2007, 07:07:48 pm »
Dan's mother called me tonight.
Dan's fever got higher and he was admitted to hospital.
They removed the catheter and put him on IV antibiotics. His mom said he is in a lot of pain.

I feel helpless with him being there alone...and I hate to know he is in pain.

I hope he will get well soon enough to travel.
Just wanted to let you know.

Dear Herm...I hope this is just a minor complication (there is no such thing when it is a loved one) and that Dan will be better real soon...First getting him well is the only real concern and then he can deal with the travel and relocation issues ahead of you both.

I won't type what I first said upon reading this but it started with "G" and ended with "odammit!" (ooops)

Hermie, thank you for letting us know what'r going on, and thanks to Dan's mom for calling you, too.

Dan, get better, dammit!  if you see this, you know I'm sending you best wishes for a quick recovery!  This has to be something simple that will be fixed in a day or two.  It just has to be!

Dearest Dan and Hermie,

This timing is not what we had hoped for the two of you.  We know how much you want to be together and we know that this will happen when Dan is able to travel.

Dan, recover at your own speed.  And, Hermie, fluff the pillows and the feather bed for Dan to settle into once he is there.

We wish you two a long and happy life together.  Will we be able to throw "rice" for you as you did for us?

We love you both, Ric and Thom

I don't like to hear this.  Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a "minor" complication when you're in the hospital.  I'll be thinking about both of you.

Danny...get well soon.  I miss you.

Dan and Hermie~

I am so sorry to hear about this tonight!  I know how much the two of you want to be together, and Dan, to have you in pain in the hospital is not what I wanted to read.  Please know that I am thinking about the two of you tonight, and Dan, I am praying that your pain is lessened by being given good care.  It may be delayed for now, but I have no doubt that the two of you will be together soon.  Your love for each other is very strong and can be seen in your posts here.  I think all of us can sense that bond across the miles, between the two of you.

Get well soon, Dan!

Thank you so much for your thoughts.. and sweet support. Dan  and I need it , really.

I just received a phonecall form his mom, telling me he had a very rough night.
His scrotum is now all swollen and infected and he had lost blood.
The doctors are looking into it, but no one seems to understand what is happening.

I hope it is the aftermath of the OP, but I am worried sick and feel like having to watch him drawn with my hands tight.

I'll keep you updated.
Also told his mom to tell him the AM members are keeping him in their thoughts and prayers.

I just talked to Dan.
He will have more surgery on Monday. He might have had a tear in his stomach tissue, due to the throwing up, and had blood in his vomit and stool.
On top of that he is in pain.

I know he is the one that needs to get well here. I hate to see him suffer.

But , to save some money I stupidly refused insurance when I purchased his ticket. Dan heard about the surgery 2 days later. We had to change it once and I had to pay $ 485 extra.
And now he has just been told he will not be able to fly at all in the next future. We had changed the ticket to the end of this week, as Dan and I really wanted to be together. I may loose 1000 dollars when I cancell, not see Dan and have to buy another ticket.

Well hell, 1000 more in the loss won't kill me.
But I surely start to wonder what more challenges will come my way and how I am going to cope.
In the end I am not asking for much. Just a bit of hapiness... but then, aren't we all?????

Just feeling helpless,sad and tired.

Thank you for all your wishes. I know you all mean well, but it is so lonely here...

Hermie
I am so sorry to hear about this. Do you think with an explanation to the airlines they might give you credit towards a future ticket? I hope you can work something out.  I read a column in the paper about travel problems and people contact this person about their troubles and he helps them. I'll look it up and PM you.

Crap Herman!

I'm sorry to read about all the difficulties Dan is having.  I hope they get the situation sorted out quickly and that the 2nd surgery goes smoothly.

Tell him I'm sending lots of positive energy his way.

Take care of yourself too buddy.

This is Danny's friend Kevin.  I am on the phone with him from the hospital.  Dan says, " I had complications after surgery on Tues.  I'm in a lot of pain.  My scrotum is the size of a large grapefruit(!).  Friday night was bad- throwing up blood all night long.  Tomorrow I'm having a "esophageal(?) scope" to see if there is a tear in my stomach.  If so they will fix it. So travel is OFF indefinitely.  I've had problems with this in the past."
Danny really appreciates all your concern.  Hopefully he'll be talking to you all soon!  This is Kevin signing out for now direct from Danny in the hospital.

Dan,

I'm sorry for the worsening of the situation though hope that they will able to at least stop the problem so you can recover.

Jeromy and I have both you and Hermie in our thoughts.
