a7,

I removed your post from the thread in Just Tested Poz forum and put it here, in the Am I Infected forum. You have not "just tested poz" and for that reason, you are not permitted to post in forums meant for hiv positive people ONLY.

If you read the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

With the exception of the “Am I Infected?” and “Off Topic” Forums, the AIDSmeds.com Forums are intended for people who have been diagnosed with HIV (or their loved ones/caregivers).  If you are questioning or unaware of your HIV status, please refrain from posting messages or questions in the Forums intended for HIV-positive people.

Please consider yourself warned!

You are not going to test positive after that ten week negative result, although you may want to confirm that result at the three month point for your peace of mind.

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days.

A six week (or more) negative must be confirmed at the three month point, but is HIGHLY UNLIKELY to change.

You do not have hiv.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

a7,

Your test tomorrow will be conclusive. It will also be negative.

In over ten years of working on this forum, I have yet to see a six week or more negative go on to turn positive at or after three months (unless the person has engaged in further infection risks during the original window period). I don't expect you to be the first.

If you feel unwell, go see a doctor to find out what is actually going on. You have already ruled hiv out of the picture. You do not have hiv.

a7,

Also, if the illness you've been experiencing had anything to do with hiv, you would have tested positive at week ten.

The symptoms that some (not all) people experience are not due to the virus itself. They are due to the process that the body goes through while producing antibodies. That's why it's safe to say that if your illness had anything to do with hiv, you would have already tested positive. You haven't. You don't have hiv.

Thanks Ann..
i am 24 yrs old male.
Regarding exposures through out my life i had sex when i was in love 5 yrs ago and after that now when i was on a business trip in africa.! It all happened because of the feeling of being alone since all these years, after my gf got married then to someone else.! And also alcohol stress & hash their combination itself was too bad for me to make any decision. And yes this incident made me a better person .. now i realize about how important is to live healthy .. i have stoped drinking alcohol since then. I am changed completely.
I hope the test comes back -ve.. well my 72 day test was CMIA Hiv Duo test.!
I will post my results 2moro.

Hi Ann,

I tested -ve at 87 days.!
i had these test's so far..
15th april - rapid Hiv 1/2 -  ( -ve )
28th april - rapid Hiv 1/2 -  ( -ve )
12th may - Cmia Hiv Ag/Ab - ( 0.21 non-reactive )
27th may - Cmia Hiv Ag/Ab - ( 0.09 non-reactive )
11th june - Meia Hiv 1/2 -  ( non-reactive )
11th june - VDRL ( non-reactive )

But Ann let me tell you that i never read symptoms before they came and i was also not that tensed but still i was sick since last 2 months till today i have this tingling sensation in my feet and numbness in my hands & also my throat is not the same anymore.

I also saw 3 different doctor's ie. 2 ENT specialist & 1 GP in total 6 times.
Every time got antibiotics still my throat is not ok .

Q1. Does these test also test all the strain's of HIV ?
Q2. Is there any chance that i can test +ve at six months or so ?

Thanks.!

a7,

You do NOT have hiv. You are conclusively hiv negative and you do not need further testing.

If you continue to feel unwell, keep working with your doctor to find out what's wrong. Whatever that may be, it is NOT hiv. You have ruled hiv out of the picture, so it's time to look for other possible causes. Don't ask us what those causes may be, that's something for you to discuss with your doctor, not people on the internet.

If you read the Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Dear Ann,

I accept that i don't have hiv, but just need a bit info if you can give..

I have few questions :-
1. My doc a GP and he said i need to test till six months because of my throat pain for so long and says the virus can mutate and that is why it takes long to test..( he also said that the virus is different in different countries ), so i had exposure in Africa ( not western Africa ) and i am getting tested in India so the test here will test for the strains from Africa as well ??

2. Does the Hiv tests check for all strains ??

3. All human produce the same type of antibodies to the virus ??

4. I took Elisa but it checks for 3 types of antibodies and WB has more than 10 bands should i test with a western blot as well. GP said i should also get tested with a WB as well.

Thanks

And her ARS was too soon on 3rd april after encounter on 28th 30th , 1st april.!

reading this has made me more worried .!

I have made up my mind i was supposed to marry this year but i will not for at least 3 years or may be never i don't need sex i did once and enjoying the symptoms since then ..

a7,

1. The window period for hiv testing has been three months for quite a few years now and it does not matter where in the world you are testing or where in the world you had a possible exposure. It sounds like your doctor does not understand hiv.

2. Yes.

3. Yes.

4. You only need to test with a Western Blot if you had a positive antibody test. You did not have a positive antibody test because.... wait for it.... YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV!!!

As for the post you read in a forum you have no business being in, if you read some of her later posts, she states that she was infected on March 11th, 2011. She obviously forgot or discounted an unprotected encounter on that date and she did not write about it in the post you read. She tested positive in June after an inconclusive result in April, which is totally consistent with the hiv testing window period. If she had tested in May she would have tested positive at that point, but she waited until June.

I'm giving you that time out I warned you about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

Hi Ann,

I had another Combo test at 15 weeks/104 days .! I am satisfied that i do not have Hiv..!

But i just want to ask if you know something about my situation if you have seen one as i have seen 3 ENT specialist 1 Dermatologist and my GP in total 9 times i have visted them.!
I have taken antibiotics for throat as my ENT gave me because my ASO titer was 255 .

But my Throat culture was -ve then also he gave me penicillin..! i took it for 7+7+5 days.! with pro biotic tab's. And still my tonsil is bit swollen and discomfort in my throat quite strange.!

Also the dermatologist diagnosed me with penial fungal infection and asked if i have tested for Hiv, i said yes and he gave me nizral cream using it but no benefit the infection is since 2 1/2 half months since i noticed.

Also my Hemoglobin , RBC & platelets that were 195 post 50 days exposure were only 166 post 104 days exposure .!

And before all these incident i have never knew what is ENT and what is dermatologist i have rarely been to any doctor like twice or thrice in my entire life and that also just for fever in school days .!

And please do not give TIME OUT to me ..
I am just taking your advice as i am tired of being tested for different things and also i have discussed with doctors about these issue but i don't get to listen anything other than that it will resolve .!

And i forgot to mention that i have been not feeling well since 2nd april when my mild throat pain started, and so many things after.
I have started exercising , not missing any single meal proper diet , fresh juice , no alcohol since incident , i am trying real hard to get back myself but it seems like something is wrong with my body.

one more question that i had 2 syphilis test 1 at 88 days and 1 at 104 days but the thing is before the test at 88 days i have taken amoxicillin for 5 days and before 104 days i have taken penicillin for 14 days will that effect my VDRL test as they were -ve .!

As my doctors are so ignorant about STD's ..! i have asked my ENT what is could be he says as ASO is positive it is strep throat. really strep throat not going since 2nd april .? i never heard of this strep throat before .!

They don't even tell me what to test for as my left leg has bad vibrations and right hand extremities as well.!
Are their any other STD which can cause discomfort for so long and not resolve ??

Sorry for long post .... seeking some suggestions if i could get any .!Or tell me which forum can i ask my questions as Hiv is not the case now.!

a7,

I have no idea what's going on with you, other than the fact that you have reliably and conclusively tested hiv negative.

If your throat and tonsils are giving you so many problems, maybe you should talk to your doctor about having the tonsils removed. Other than that, I have no solutions for you.

Maybe try MedHelp. They have forums that deal with conditions other than hiv.

You do NOT have hiv!!!

If you keep coming back here, you WILL be given another time out - and this one will last 56 days.

PLEASE CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!
