Mini update
« on: June 18, 2009, 07:03:22 pm »
Its been a while again since I posted. I guess in a way its a good thing in that it means that HIV is just a part of my life and not one I obsess about. In another way, I should probably be more involved as being part of the community always helps. I recently passed 4 years since diagnosis, and therefore 10 years since infection. Almost 4 years on meds. (Selzentry and Truvada still working very well)

Things are pretty good considering. Took up cycling last year and it has become a real passion. This weekend I am doing a Ride for Cancer from Vancouver to Seattle over 2 days, 270 Kilometers. Should be fun. I have improved quite a bit since I started, though still a ways to go. I rode an average of 1000 kilometers per month for April, May and will do so for June as well.

I was athletic all my life, and quite serious about it, so it was hard to gain weight, and be unfit. I also loved running and skiing and being very fit. Doing these activities is the best medicine for keeping me happy and sane. I highly recommend it to everyone.

The only sour note in all this of course, is one we all face, dating. That has not changed one bit. I do have to say that I can be thankful that I got this later in life as I know people who got it very early and therefore never really had a worry free intimate relationship.

I decided to take some time off work, don't know how long that will be, maybe just for the summer, so I can enjoy it, ride, maybe swim and run a bit. I might train for triathlon one day if I can get the swimming and running back.

Thanks for reading.

Um, ok, why is the title of this thread "Mini update?"

It's a short, "mini" update about what's going on with him. I agree it's a little confusing to those of us who have been following minismom's thread of the same title.

Wow, have to admit, I was confused, too.  Thought age was catching up with me ;)

I saw this yesterday and thought it must have been a computer glitch or something! lol

Naft- glad things are going well for you. Dating--it's different for all of us, and usually not easy for everyone, whether positive or not. Good luck with everything.
