Google Health
« on: July 30, 2013, 07:51:51 am »
Did anyone use Google Heath to track their status, medical check ups/labs etc. When I was first diagnosed I found that with Quest Diagnostics they would upload my labs before I actually even saw my doctor, what I loved most about it was the various charts and graphs I could create. about any of my labs, i could create something visual to see the trends in my care. For those that did use Google health you know it went away at the end of last year (really not sure why). My question is has anyone used Gazelle or Microsoft Healthvault, what are your experiences the pluses and minuses. Or are they other programs that work better. Thank

I've used HealthVault, but (surprise, surprise), I found it convoluted and an eyesore.

There are a million smartphone apps for this. If you have an Android or iPhone, you could use iStayHealthy for your HIV-related numbers. The iPhone app is hideous, but there's a promised update to make it look like the Android version in the works.

I track my full labs in a Google Spreadsheet (with charts!), but I have to enter the numbers each time. :-/ If anyone has a better system, I'd be glad to hear it.

You could use this site's Graph Your Labs.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

You should find out if they're hiring in the IT department. ;)

Haha. Hiring in the journalism sector? You're too much. ;)

What a fun project that would be, though.

Well, like I always told my daughter in her formative years - "always ask, the worst they can do is say 'NO', and when you least expect it you may be surprised by a 'YES'."

All excellent suggestions, but I guess I will try the Microsoft Health Vault for a while. The reason I will use this is so I can see my labs results early sometimes a week or two before I actually meet with my Doctor, any then maybe manually type into some spread sheet for my own use. Perplexed why Google health was retired. Thanks for the advice.

I must add, I really appreciate the quick wit and humor of all posters. I am never let down, I am often smiling, chuckling and sometimes surprised while reading everyones posts. Thanks to everyone for making this journey bearable!
