Quiz About HIV
« on: November 22, 2011, 02:14:33 am »
I got 6 answers right.  The info that stuck out most for me was that 1.5 million have HIV in North America and 1.2 are in the U.S.  Canada and Mexico have a combined population of about 150 million--roughly half that of the U.S.  But, according to their source, only make up 300,000 infections.

Can we trust the stats for Mexico or the stats they give for Central Asia, in terms of their governments maintaining reliable records/estimates?  If they are reliable, why do you think the U.S. has more infections when you account for population?  One would think Canada and Mexico combined would have about half the infections.  Is Mexico doing a better job at prevention??  Not having as much sex?  Or, they don't have Manhunt Mexico?  Or, the numbers are wrong?  They say infections are growing fastest among MSM here in the U.S.  This is one of the answers I got wrong.  While I knew MSM made up more infections in total, I thought recent studies showed MSM infections fell out of the fastest growing.  Back to school I go.
