Am I in the seroconversion? Please help!!

Hi,

Last December 2006, I went to massage parlour. The sex worker was topless, but with panty all the time. I was in the thin pyjamas, but with short sleeve. She gave me massage for one hour. During the time, I touched her breast and nipple, but not her vagina. No any other sexual activities involved. No handjob either. She tried to sit on my leg once (she was in underwear and I am in pyjamas). I could feel that the area of her vagina was so warm. But I pushed her out from my leg suddenly.

One day later, I felt that my body temperature was getting higher. I have believed that I am not at HIV risk so far, so I have never ever realized about taking anti-viral medicine within 24 hours. My body temperature has started rising since then (up to now).

The incidence which make me freak out is I have started to get a low fever for a month in April-2007, and followed by swollen glands at my neck since early May-2007.

To date, the fever has already gone, but the swollen glands at my neck remain exist. I have just considered that the sex worker might do the handjob for the client before me, and then give me the massage afterward by not clean her hand properly, which may pass HIV to me. Or in another scenario, I might contact with the cums from the previous clients on the bed (which I have not known).

I went to consult my GP, so that I have been tested (blood test) for the HIV at 4.5 months (mid May-2007), and the results turned to be negative. I know that normally the result at 3 months is conclusive. Nevertheless, in my case, even though my blood test show negative result, but my neck swollen gland remains exist.

I am so scared now. Is it possible that my body has not produced antibody yet (while I already have HIV virus in my body)? I heard that somebody might need six months or even more than a year to produce HIV antibody. Is the result at 3 months definitely conclusive? Do you have any suggestions? I also know that massage is not the mode for HIV transmission, but why I still have the swollen glands (two glands-right and left at my neck)?? I am hopeless. I am so depressed. Can anybody give me any suggestion, please? Thank you very much.

You are conclusively hiv negative and it's no surprise as you were never at risk in the first place.

Here's what else you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

You are hiv negative. Stay that way by using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse. It really is that simple!

Thank you for your comment. However, my swollen glands at my neck make me worry a lot. Is it almost 7 weeks up to now. Is it possible that the sex worker might touch her vagina and give me the massage immediately without cleaning her hand? Is this the mode of HIV transmission? I afraid that I might be the first guy in the world who get the HIV from massage. Really worry indeed!!!!

You were never at risk for HIV by having a massage. Transmission is not possible that way.

Read and re-read Ann's post above and work with your doctor in discovering what is causing your complaints. It's most certainly not HIV.

Very fortunately feelings aren't facts.

No matter what your mind keeps scaring you with and no matter how swollen your glands, there is absolutely no basis in HIV science for you to be concerned about this incident in terms of HIV transmission. NONE WHATSOEVER! Period. End of story.

Swollen glands can happen for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with HIV. You need to discuss the matter with your doctor. And also need to keep your hands off of your glands as they are very sensitive. Handling them, pressing and squeezing them can create a problem where none exists.

THIS IS NOT AN HIV SITUATION. Period.
