Title: Starting treatment: Complera
Post by: gloworm on July 24, 2013, 11:31:53 pm
Hello,

I got my CD4 count today and it is at 448 and my viral load is at 4,498.  My doctor has recommended that I start treatment to bring my levels up.  He has prescribed me Complera.  Has anyone else taking this medication and if so, what are some of the side effects that you have experienced while taking this medication.

Any advice that you can give would be very helpful for me.  Thanks!

Aside from the occasional fart, there are no side effects.  It can be a pain in the ass at times to ensure your taking it with a meal, a little advice, buy a key fob pill holder and always keep an extra in it.  That way when you find yourself out at dinner and realize you won't eat again to take your pill you can pop it open and take it with your meal.

It takes some time to get used to that...but that isn't a side effect.

Not sure I can be much help here - been on Complera for just two weeks now and was on Atripla for almost two years prior to that.  I second the comment on the farting - I seem to be a little more gassy then normal  :D but other than that its been great.  Also agree it takes some time getting used to taking with a meal - got into the routine of taking Atripla right before bedtime on an empty stomach...I did invest in the key fob as well.

Good Luck!!
