condom break

hello everyone,

i am from india, this unfortunate incident happened in 22nd oct 2012 in bangalore,,i had sex with CSW, she did not touch my penis nor let me kiss her or did oral.she made me put on 2 condoms,one on another,she did not spread her legs,just asked me to insert it, with legs close, just after 2-3 sec heard a frat like sound from my pussy after 3-4 sec removed and was very scared, she wanted me do it with out condom,i refused, she swear on god and said she is not infected,after that she put on another condom, but i only had half erection ,tried insertion again,,but because i was scared,,i could not do it,removed it again,,this time condom was left in her pussy,,i am sure it did not do it  without condom second time.

neither of us ejaculated, she wanted me to do it again,this time  i put on another condom,hardly finished,,i removed it,,condom was intact,,but came out,after which i washed it with little water, went to my room after 15 mins,washed my penis with antiseptic liquid.

next day it was a festival holiday in india, so doctors were on holiday, consulted 2 docs over phone,neither of them agreed to PEP, one of them asked me to take FLAGYL 400mg and BACTRIM DS for 3 days and  3 times daily,which i did. on 24thoct2012, had  HIV I ‎& ‎II ANTIBODIES ‎test done,it was non reactive and gave serum for "hiv-1 quantitative PCR" results awaited.

today i noticed a small red spot under the penis,,which is neither irritating nor smelling. i have a mild soar throat symptoms. i am scared not able to eat(lost appetite)nor sleep properly.i am crying every day because of my stupidity.i i have mother and sister to take care. what are my chances of getting infected with condom break incident.please advise.

Hello!

As you are likely aware by now from reading previous posts, a condom break, while unfortunate, is a very low level risk. So low level, actually, that none of us who have been on this forum for ten years or so have EVER seen the penetrative partner wind up positive after a condom break.

While it's prudent, of course, to get tested, I sincerely think you are going to come out of this OK.

PCR-DNA tests are not approved for diagnostic use in HIV.

As RapidRod said, these tests are not routinely used to diagnose HIV. Part of this is because they have a high risk of false positive results, which as you can understand are often distressing to those who take them.

A standard HIV test in six weeks will be all but definitive, and a test at three months is considered conclusive.

Given the low level of your risk, compounded by the difficulty of transmission from female to male under the most ideal circumstances, I sincerely think you are going to come through this OK.

You didn't have a risk when the condom(s) broke.

There's no way you would have penetrated her vagina when she had her legs closed. You would have been rubbing between her thighs and that is NOT a risk for hiv infection. As you weren't actually inside her vagina when the condoms broke, you were ok and not at risk.


You need to know that wearing two condoms at the same time is a recipe for disaster. Two condoms together increase the friction and will cause a break. Do NOT use two condoms at the same time!!!

Your second attempt at vaginal intercourse also was not a risk. You said you left the condom behind, hanging out of her vagina, and this is not a risk. It simply slipped off when you withdrew, so you were never in her unprotected.

Your third attempt at vaginal intercourse was not a risk either. Protected intercourse is just that - protected. There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

In short, you have not had a risk for hiv infection and you only need to test for peace of mind. If you do decide to test, all you need is an antibody test at six weeks.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence. A correctly used condom - ONE condom - rarely breaks.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER PROTECTED INTERCOURSE, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

thank you so much ANN, and i am very sorry to PM, i am dying of anxiety,don't know what to do,your reply gave me a new way of looking at the situation, thank you very much,hope everything comes out as you said. i am very paranoid,don't know what to do,where to go and who to talk about this and it was festival time in India, almost like x'mas time.every one was out, even doctors. so you guys were only option for me.sorry again to bother u guys on weekend. awaiting pcr-dna report today. pray for me.
