The Legacy Project works to build trust and collaboration between historically underrepresented communities most impacted by the domestic HIV epidemic, researchers, and research institutions; enhance cultural competence; and initiate scientific investigation to increase clinical research participation. The Legacy Project is committed to partnership and relationship development; thus building bridges of trust, increasing engagement and collaborative efforts between the populations most impacted, and researchers and their institutions. The Legacy Project’s commitment extends to addressing the historic inequities by working with constituents to overcome the demographics and socio-economic disparities that threaten all NIAID-funded research and ultimately the communities and populations they serve.
Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Program Assistant III (PA) is to provide administrative and coordination support for the Be the Generation Bridge Project (BTGB). The PA carries-out moderately complex special assignments and projects. The incumbent works with minimal supervision and is expected to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying-out responsibilities within the framework of the department and procedures, and is expected to keep abreast of changes in regulations, protocols, laws, and procedures related to work responsibilities. This will include coordinating travel, appointments and task of key program staff.
Job Duties:
The responsibilities of the Program Assistant III include but are not limited to:
1. Provide logistics and technical support for BTGB Project activities.
2. Prepare, develop, and disseminate communication and educational materials.
3. Carry-out moderately complex special assignments and projects.
4. Serve as department liaison and provide information to Center staff and outside organizations.
5. Provide ongoing-email and telephone support to BTGB team and partners, including taking and distributing meeting minutes.
6. Gather information and produce reports on department/study operation and performance and prepare special and recurring reports.
7. Maintain updated policies and procedures manuals.
8. Make accurate and complete postings to department/study records and maintain filling and record keeping system in accordance with policies and procedures.
9. Maintain Legacy Project portal and public website pages and email lists.
10. Perform administrative or complex clerical responsibilities as required.
11. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS in a related field of study. Minimum of three years experience in a related field. Strong operational, organizational, project and time management skills required. Experienced with meeting and events support. Advanced computer and word processing skills required. Proficiency working within Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills also required. Must have strong attention to detail and quality of work. Ability to take initiative, work independently with good judgment, and to work and support a team.
Desired Qualifications (not required):
Proficiency in both speaking and writing Spanish.
Experience with HIV/AIDS education.

Job Description:
The primary responsibility of HANC Legacy Community Engagement Officer (CEO) – Be the Generation Bridge Project (BTGB) is to support and ensure collaborative integration of community engagement activities into the NIAID -funded HIV clinical trials networks and related community mobilization efforts. The CEO specifically supports capacity building and community mobilization activities for the Be the Generation Bridge Project.
The CEO is expected to use initiative in carrying out responsibilities as defined by the HANC Legacy Project team in collaboration with representatives of the NIAID -funded HIV clinical trials networks. The CEO will work to maximize the participation of traditionally underserved populations and those populations most impacted by HIV in NIAID -sponsored HIV clinical trials.
Job Duties:
The responsibilities of the CEO-BTGB include but are not limited to:
1. Participates in the design of a US domestic community engagement strategy and supports its implementation in consultation and collaboration across NIAID -funded networks and supporting community organizations and representatives.
2. Coordinates planning and implementing capacity building activities (meetings, workshops, cohort training, webinars, etc.) to address the gaps identified in organizational assessments.
3. Coordinates opportunities for interaction between clinical trial sites and community partners.
4. Designs, develops, and disseminates all educational materials for the BTGB project.
5. Builds and maintains relationships with individuals at appropriate organizations by phone, e-mail, and in-person at conferences and meetings to further the domestic HIV clinical research agenda.
6. Supports educational efforts and improvement strategies for increased community literacy regarding HIV, prevention and treatment knowledge and research through presentations, workshops, posters and other means at national and local meetings and conferences.
7. Engages community constituents in dialogue to learn about community needs and concerns, and to build community trust and support. Provides advice/feedback on community engagement to protocol teams and network leadership as needed.
8. Identifies community constituents who could advance the mission of BTGB.
9. Supports the development of integrated messaging strategies (branding) that promote domestic HIV clinical research efforts in traditionally underserved populations.
10. Coordinates implementation, quality assurance, and evaluation of the BTGB Project.
11. Implements, reports, and improves the coordination of all aspects of the BTGB Project.
12. Maintains ongoing communication with program partners (FHI 360, NIAID and AVAC).
13. Provides capacity building and technical assistance to BTGB funded partners, hands-on community engagement support for US HIV clinical trial sites in collaboration with advocacy organizations and other internal/external systems, partners and other key stakeholders.
14. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in community education or related healthcare field, or related college coursework (e .g. in health marketing, health education or community organizing) required.
Minimum two years of experience with HIV/AIDS education; in-depth knowledge of HIV disease, and the motivational factors affecting safer sex practices; experience working with diverse communities such as LGBT communities and communities of color strongly preferred. Knowledge of and sensitivity to youth, racial, ethnic, cultural, and sexual diversity is essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail are critical in this position. Ability to set and meet expectations. Strong computer skills including word processing, database programs, and spreadsheets. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet deadlines within a team environment also required. Supervisory or coordinating experience (especially in community education programs, outreach or with community-based networking) strongly preferred.

A Masters degree in public health is preferred.

Job Description:
Provides overall administrative and operational oversight to the Be the Generation Bridge Project (BTGB). Develops program policies, procedures, evaluation instruments, and coordinates communication within the Legacy Project and between collaborating partners. Carries-out complex project management responsibilities.
The incumbent reports to the Legacy Project Director. Has responsibility for independently managing all aspects of the BTGB Project. Special skills and knowledge are applied in managing project operations, in developing materials, ongoing evaluation activities, and in carrying-out complex project management responsibilities. Independent judgment is used in interpreting and applying project/study protocol and in supervising staff.
Job Duties:
Perform some or all of the following responsibilities:
1. Set BTGB Project goals and timetables, ensuring that all research and administrative activities are completed.
2. Coordinate the activities of project staff.
3. Maintains ongoing communication with program partners (FHI 360, NIAID and AVAC).
4. Supervise staff including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and handling disciplinary action, terminations, and layoffs.
5. Develop, interpret, and administer project policies and procedures according to contract and Center specifications.

6. Develop, review, edit, and revise educational materials.
7. Carry-out complex evaluation responsibilities in support of project, requiring advanced related education and/or experience.
8. Assist the Legacy Project Director in the design of project’s process and outcome monitoring evaluation instruments.
9. Serve as project liaison, representing the project to other Center departments, funding sources, affiliated individuals or institutions, and outside organizations. Give presentations as necessary.
10. Plan and attend committee meetings, monitor activities to ensure objectives have been met within designated time frame, and coordinate follow-up activities.
11. Coordinate contract application and renewal process, writing portions of contracts as required.
12. Assist in the analysis of evaluation data.
13. Coordinate, in collaboration with the Legacy Project Director and Legacy Project Social Scientist, the submission of articles and manuscripts for publication, writing portions of articles/manuscripts as required.
14. Develop and monitor project budget, ensuring that all financial allocations and
expenditures are in accordance with contract guidelines and requirements.
15. Coordinate space and equipment planning and utilization, evaluating current project needs, overseeing the acquisition of space and equipment, anticipating and planing for future needs.
16. Performs other responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS in related field required. Minimum of three years post-master's or five years post-bachelor's related project/study management experience in a research setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong supervisory skills and budgeting experience. Grant and contract experience.
