I was hopelessly bullied from the 2nd grade till I dropped out in high school. Never went to a school function. Never had a boy friend in school.
Never understood why.

I was a junkie slut when I was in HS, failed every class, and ended up getting kicked out for dope dealing.  Strangely, no one bullied me though.  I don't know how I escaped that.

I was bullied in grade school until I had had enough. It was always the same boys that did it.  I went off on them and whooped 3 boys after school. I was in 5th grade and never got bullied again. I have a brother that's a year younger so I knew how to fight and knew exactly where to kick and hit them boys...LOL  If i saw anyone being bullied I always went to their defense since I knew what it felt like.

Feel so sorry for that kid. Looks like the school and the parents of those other kids could do a lot more to stop it.

I don't understand what makes kids do this either.  It is really sickening.
I was cornered in a high school bathroom freshman yr by some jr's who didn't like that I didn't curl my hair?  I could never understand why they gave a shit about my hair. It didn't matter to them that I curled my hair in the morning but had to walk to the bus every morning so it was flat by the time I got there.

They shouldn't have to.  And city kids are assholes, too.  I saw an interview with these folks on CNN today.  I'm wondering why they don't focus their suit on the school as well as the kids.  Seems like the school system has been less than helpful in dealing with the situation.

I saw a news story recently talking about how girls now adays are more aggressive than they have been in the past.
Watching the ones who are around my son's age (18 ) while he was growing up I'd have to agree.

Sexually and physically girls these days can be animals compaired to when I was their age.

Kids maybe arseholes, but the teachers and school administration that let these things go on are bigger arseholes.

I'm sure it is pretty much the same at every school. It sure was at mine, and the teachers knew what was happening. They never did anything about it, either because it was just too much hassle, or because they somehow thought it would toughen the kid up, teach him to be a man and fend for himself.

When/if he finally does fend for himself and takes out 20 people along the way, everyone will raise their hands and wonder how this ever happened.

One of the best examples of revenge of bullying happened down here in Tasmania a few years ago.
The son of a prominent family was subjected to taunts and bullying because of his leaning towards being Gay.
In later years he did University and eventually became a top tax accountant in the city.
He eventually extracted revenge to the tune of around 10 million dollars from various clients and disappeared for a few years before being caught in New York.
He was subsequently deported back to Tasmania and gaoled for 4 years - None of the money was ever recovered.
It cost the people that he took down a lot morer than 10 million dollars because he had set up tax avoidance schemes and they had to pay fines as well as the missing tax money

I totally agree with what you said, Jg.  Too often officials in school are prone to show favoritism to 'upper-class' kids (athletes etc), who are usually the ones doing the bullying.

i don't get it, if I punched a collegue and knocked him out cold or gave him a black eye at work, security would call the police in a second. These kids are old enough to be prosecuted, not just by a civil lawsuit, why did nothing happen? There are kids their age in the US sentences to life so it's not a children's rights thing.

Although I agree that the family shouldn't have to move, perhaps it's the best thing to do.  Families relocate for jobs.  People move to be near loved ones.  I know of folks who've moved based on school districts here in town.  How long are the parents going to wait?  His mom says, in the article, something to the effect that she worries if he's going to make it.  We don't know why he's bullied, but often attempts to help from others (parents, school officials, etc) will make it worse.  I know this from personal experience.  Him standing up to the others is what will help, but I don't know that he's capable of it. 

When I was in the 3rd grade, a big 5th grader used to pick on me.  Marty lived down the street and waited at the bus stop.  He didn't abuse me like those kids do to Billy, but he picked at me constantly.  He would smack me in the head when nobody was looking.  He'd step on my heels when he was walking behind me and try to make me fall.  He would poke me (very hard) in the back, ribs, or stomach with his fingers when he was sure he wouldn't get caught.  One day, on the bus, he was sitting behind me  pulling my hair.  He then tried to put ink from a fountain pen cartridge down my neck.  I'd finally had enough.  I grabbed my trusty Scooby Doo lunch box, swung it, and popped him right in the temple.  He fell back into his seat and kind of stared straight ahead.  I thought I'd really hurt him!     He never touched, looked at, or spoke to me again. 

I had one other incident with a kid, Bert, up the street that used to pick on me at school.  I was at a new school and was in the 6th grade.  One day, he attacked me as a friend and I walked past his house in the street (not in his yard).  I ended up knocking him down, and he landed on his stomach.  I straddled him, grabbed his hair, and beat his face in the snow 'til his nose bled and he broke and lost his glasses.  Needless to say, he totally ignored me from then on, though he did make sure to walk on the other side of the hall when I went past!  Now, if there had been a whole school full  of kids like Marty and Bert picking on me constantly, I don't think I would have dealt with it.

bwaha to the Scooby Doo lunchbox. Billy 's  story is sad. I hope they move and say to hell with making a statement. The worst that ever happened to me was when an odd Yugoslavian toad of a boy Bajram would say "Alex you're gay" and bump his 2 index fingers together, mimicking 2 penises during sex. And his 3 Yugoslav buddies Safet, Nasser and Mustafa would laugh. Then a few weeks later it changed to "Alex, we decided you're not gay. You're a lesbian!!" And instead of the 2 index fingers it was now 2 cirlces made with his index and thumb, i.e. 2 vaginas during sex. So juvenile. But Bajram was not a bully because he was all bark and no bite. He once said he'd kick the shit out of me but to my delight he never did. Was I scared? I'd be lying if I said no. "Diluted, erratic ire" was a more accurate description of his brand of disdain. "Diluted" because he had a large menu of kids to choose from and I don't think he had a favorite target. If he did, it was probably the obese Ukrainian gal, Zenovia. (I tend to remember Eastern European names vividly because I find them unique and cool). So if you were on Bajram's shit list (which was everyone who wasn't a Yugoslavian male) you might suffer his ire for a day and then weeks could go by before he erupted again. And poor Safet. He was the only pretty and academically successful Yugoslav but he probably couldn't bear the thought of breaking ranks with his countrymen. Thank Jesus I was never beaten up by kids at school. And as far as my high school, it was so enormous and the programs were so rigorous that no one really knew anyone else, or at least that's how it seemed.

LOL you and I have something in common. I bashed Angela King in the head with my lunch box. Sent her glasses flying across the parking lot.
I felt really bad about it because she'd been pressured into fighting with me with the idea that if she had beat me up she would be popular. I knew that afterward she'd be even lower on the totem pole than she already was.

  Seeing that lunch box brings back memories. When I was a kid in the 60's 70's my dad managed the company that among other things manufactured most all of the lunch boxes sold in the USA. I bet I had at least 75 to 100 of them . I buried hamsters in some , shot some with my pellet gun and gave allot away.
I don't think I ever used one for a weapon though... I wish I had them back now can you imagine what all of those vintage lunch pails would be worth now.
