I've merged your threads here. In the future if you write an entry please follow our rule and keep all entries in this same thread. Do not start any new threads and use only a dark color that is easily readable. Thanks for your cooperation.

Neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will tell you anything accurately about your HIV status. If you have had a risky sexual incident, specifically unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse, only an HIV test taken at 3 months afterwards can give you a conclusive and hopefully negative result. You can test initially at 6 weeks after the risk and if you get a negative result, then the likelihood is that you will continue to test negative at 3 months.

There is nothing HIV specific about any of the symptoms you are reporting.

Good luck with your test.

Girl,

You have told us that you had an "encounter", but what, exactly, did this encounter entail? Unless you had unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse or shared street drug injecting equipment, you're probably worrying over nothing.

What, exactly, happened during this encounter?

Girl,

When you say you had to drag the condom out of you, do you mean you had to dig it out, or was it hanging out and you just had to pull it out?

If you had to dig it out, you've had a risk but as no cum was involved, it is very much on the lower end of the scale.

If you only had to pull the end hanging out, then you did not have a risk.

If by some remote chance you do test positive over this, you're not going to be leaving your kids any time soon. Have you not heard the news? Hiv is no longer a death sentence. We can now keep it very much under control with meds these days and in the UK, we do not have to pay for hiv meds. So stop worrying in that regard.

I really would not expect you to test positive over this, but if you did have to dig it out, the only way to know for sure is to test at the appropriate time. You should be having a FULL sexual health check up at least once a year anyway.

Girl,

Running nose and eyes are not the type of flu symptoms normally associated with hiv seroconversion. It's more the muscle aches, high fever, can't-get-out-of-bed type flu. There are an awful lot of head colds, tummy bugs and the flu going around in the UK at the moment. It sounds like you've just got an ordinary head cold. No big surprise with the weather we're having. Several of my mates and several of my mates kids are sick and I think I'm coming down with something too.

Sneezing, coughing or whatever around your family is not going to transmit hiv to them. Neither will sharing eating utensils or cups or plates or whatever. Hiv would only be transmitted to them if you had unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with them. Really. Hiv is not spread through casual contact, like what happens amongst family members at home.

At what week will you be on Jan 3rd?

Your risk was very minimal in relation to the incident with the condom. You should wait until 6 weeks to do an initial test. Assuming you test negative, which is what I expect, you should re-test for a conclusive result at 3 months.
