Title: Please excuse my insouciance!
Post by: Boo Radley on April 17, 2007, 09:29:39 pm
I know my behavior has been, to be too polite, erratic and very upsetting to some forum members over the last month (and much longer for some...) and I apologize again for the inexcusable behavior I engaged in.  There is no reasonable excuse so I offer none.  I am very thankful to many people for staying up until all hours trying to deal with a completely bonkers jackass and again thank the Moderators for re-extending my connection to AM.  One time I posted a message stating I am addicted to AM but didn't get many responses... that I remember.

I feel an explanation may slightly ameliorate any feelings I have been a little too jovial for someone as depressed as I claimed to be.  I have been extremely agitated since last week but mostly I'm thankful I'm not dead.  Last Tuesday morning was a love-fest with me and each animal in the house.  I know some won't believe this "story" since my credibility was damaged but the truth is when your life has been saved it's often a very uplifting experience.  Folks, I had every intention to take the pills and finally relax but was stopped by my new personal hero and many others who reached out that night, one I'd like to forget but can't.

I am even more exceedingly happy tonight because a wonderful friend, who I treated like shit over a stupid disagreement, has forgiven me and there is hope I haven't permanently tainted our friendship.  I don't have a lot of friends (that is a shocker, isn't it?) and this person has been a real joy to get to know and I hope will be a friend until one of us departs the country or this earth.  Or something.

Maybe if my PM limit hadn't been exceeded (yes, dear readers, I have finally reached level 7 of the AIDSMedsMaze) the bulk of this would have been in one but I have been feeling guilty for being so overjoyed since last week.  Don't worry.  My insouciance is undoubtedly to be short-lived and semi-catatonia will once again set in.

P.S.  Yes, Ann and Andy, I swear I will never post about any of this again...

Boo,

I'll take this opportunity to publicly apologize to you for my behavior that day. It had been a very difficult week with all the fakes, I was drunk and I had never heard of you before since I joined after you were banned and I took your story the wrong way.

What I would suggest to readers, is to take time to read this forum http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=338.0 where people introduce themselves (I'm working on mine). It's a very interesting thread. And if you don't understand someone's behavior, click on the profile, and you will have a link that says "read previous posts from this person". It helps understand why someone loses it, at least it helped me.

I'm glad you're back with us.

Milker.

I have no idea of what transpired while I was gone but I have seen you post an apology in a different thread. None of us is perfect and I don't think anyone is gonna hold a grudge. I'm also glad to hear that you mended your friendship, a good friend is hard to find in this day and age. I can not pretend to know what you are going through but I will always wish the best for you in dealing with your issues for a lack of a better word and am a lil buzzed at the moment but the words are from the heart. Love ya, Boo Boo...

now that the initial crisis has passed, your ban should be reinstated.

One does not get a free pass for abuse.  I certainly don't get one.

Even if the mods don't give you one, you should give yourself a 30 day.

But again, apparantly it only takes a suicide threat to make the mods cowtow.

Boo has apologized though... more than enough times, and I believe his contrition to be genuine... plus his time and postings on here have shown him to be an integral member of this community.

Banning anyone again after all this would seem high-handed and cruel.

why benj?

why should somebody be given a free pass no matter their issue if everyone isn't?

Quote
Banning anyone again after all this would seem high-handed and cruel.

Why shouldn't the punishment be metered out like it is for everyone else?

Where do you and the mods draw the line... apparantly they don't draw it after readmitting someone only to verbally berate another member here abusively.

It's still nice to know one can be readmitted with just the claim of suicide, whether real or imagined, so that when I finally get banned, I'll know how to act.

What about all the others who have been banned for having an 'over the top' moment?  Should THEY remain banned forever?

Is an apology all that is required to be reinstated now?

Ah, but no matter the response you give, they still are banned forever.

It is a double standard on its face and you would recognize that if you remove your emotions and personal 'connection' from this issue at hand.

I'll bring this up as long as threads like this continue to surface.

PS:  nobody here is integral to this community and I feel his readmission has done more harm to the credibility of the 'policy' and cost alot of respect in my eyes.

Until the mods address their 'policy', in quotes becuase it's only a sham if not enforced, it remains unclear.

You can't readmit one without considering the readmission of everyone else.

OK guys,

read the forums since their inceptions, and you will feel that many timeouts, bans, have been unwarranted. I have strong feelings about some people having a timeout or a ban where others just got a warning even though the "offense" was similar. But ultimately it's our Moderator's decision. Matty the Damned has talked about this extensively. Ultimately it's a "gut feeling" from the Moderator, who happens to be human.

I'm don't think that I'll be able to answer your questions to your or my satisfaction, Dingo... but I think, in some cases, a less than strict interpretation of the rules might not be the correct thing to do... but the right thing to do.

What is lost by forgiving someone?

I don't think anything is lost... no-one plays the fool while being kind.

you avatar signature is abusive directly to me, threatening and a direct threat to my feeling of safety here..

Your avatar line is directly intended to make me feel uncomfortable participating here.  Instead of countering my posts, you just choose to just attack and threaten me.

Should be fixed now, my dear.

Not a direct threat to you anyway.

Mighty thin skin for someone who dishes it out the way you do!

Very well, but I hardly see what all this fuss is about.  A death threat?

Whatever, hon.  Hopefully, this can get sorted out later.

milker, akasha, aupo, tim, and anyone else I'm forgetting,

Thanks for your kind words.  I appreciate them.

milker, you owe me no apologies.  I vaguely recall giggling derisively at one of your posts, in agreement -- something about let him do what he needs and we can talk tomorrow -- if you were on a suicide hotline that might be a tad much but it just added to the insanity here, in a good old fashioned fun sort of way.

Benj and Tim, if you're willing I'd like to perform a blood brothers ritual one day -- just pins and stuff, no knives.  If we can get a 4th we can drive to a beach one night and re-enact the Manon beach sequence from The Craft.  I guess I should be Fairuza Balk since she ends up in restraints in an asylum.  I can fly!!

Thank you Benj for your responses to Dingo but he's on ignore so please don't bother yourself.  I'm never gonna read one of his posts again... although that vlog is as addictive as morphine.

An overdose!  Ba! Ba! Ba! Dum!!

So, patently my giggly teeny bopper phase is going strong and I'm still the shy, sweet, wilting flower I've always been.  I'm gonna ride this wave as long as possible unless this mania gets too manic and I get in trouble again.  Maybe Dingo can report me to the mods.

10:38 PM CDT

Oh, great jumping Jehosophat!!  7 new posts while I was dragging along with this and I somehow see Dingle's posts and thunter34 has directly threatened his life!!  Good gosh, please stop the insanity.  Tim, if you've threatened DingleBoisen I insist you unthreaten him, please, for me.  I swore I would never reveal you are the infamous Georgia Hunter, brutal serial killer who hunted down Atlanta queens in feather boas and stuffed the boas down their throats, leaving an estimated 6.5 victims and one alleged victim who had merely consumed part of a down pillow in his sleep.  Oh, wait... shit!!  Sorry!

I've got to finish this so I can see the death threat and is the picture in question as well?  I thought it was Alice Cooper or someone from KISS...

Kiss Kiss

It's fantabulous and I downloaded my copy already to send as Xmas cards!!

Insouciance -- without a sous chef.

I thought the word was common knowledge or never woulda used it.

Jesus.  How asinine can we get?  I got so asinine I looked at a few previously ignored posts.  "Dead dingo" is a direct threat to your life??  Did you trademark Dingo, Bailey?

And I saw Alf (?) and a dead dingo (?).  While visually displeasing and possibly a bit mean, nothing is remotely physically threatening and if it's psychologically frightening I suggest you discuss the issue with a mental health professional.

Freedom of speech allows us to speak or act in ways others find displeasing, and even though AM is not governed by the First Amendment (they can toss out a denialist faster than one can push the report to mod button) we are all generally allowed to have fun and fool around.  Tim's avatar and bio line were obviously a reference to you but you really are pushing the death  threat bit.  Inappropriate?  Maybe.  You know he put them up to provoke you and you over-reacted in a fabulously Lana Turnerish way.  Very Copacabana School.

Tim, please don't risk any trouble on my account, and I know you did not do it solely on my account but I'm the root of the problem, as it were.  I tell you, though, I find a world in which Dingo is on ignore to be one I can easily live with.

Sorry, Boo.  Squeemish around needles and stuff.  And worse around blood.  We'll have to just settle for a secret handshake or something!

You bid thithy, you!!

My twin passes out at the sight of his own blood or did 100 years ago when we last spoke.  In 10th grade Biology I was in honors and for some reason he wasn't but we had the same teacher.  Imagine my great surprise and greater amusement in 5th period (Biology, duh) discovering the scoop of the day is Bruce passed out after pricking his finger for a self-administered blood test!!  I tested myself, O+ I think -- I know I'm a universal donut or something... but obviously no one of sound mind wants my blood!

I never let Bruce live it down, but he deserved it -- the rat bastard indulged in communal fag-baiting with his basketball buds when we were teens.  Having your own brother calling you a faggot or whatever is a true joy, let me tell you.  I'm sure too many people here know what the experience is like in one way or another.  Siblings can be such shits.  I know I sure can!!   I forgave him, actually, after telling him how it affected me as a kid, but we never got along very well before or after.  He's extremely stubborn...

Another dithering stroll down memory cul de sac lane.

Boo,

Just fyi:  The original "dead dingo" bit was only intended as a joking reference to Dingo's post above about knowing what to do if he ever faces TO or banning again:  playing the "death card".  As soon as I posted it, I didn't want to keep it because it was such a gross looking pic.  I opted instead for something to relay "beating a dead horse"...which is what is up now.  In the moments between the first one and second, it was siezed upon as a death threat.  That wasn't my intention.  That may or may not have been understood when I typed above that it "should be fixed now".  Typing this out here for the record.

I'm really not the death threat type, ya know.

Yes, Tim, I am quite aware you are not that type of person, which would be closer to my MO, making ridiculous threats about as serious as rubber vomit.

(modified at 3:46AM CDT to clarify -- Except for siblings and a few friends chased around with an icepick when I was between 9 - 11 [never managing so much as a small puncture] and numerous battles with my brother in early adolescence,  I have never threatened anyone with physical harm.  Never.  I have been very nasty to people in the horrid way bitter old queens can be (I qualified for the title at about age 8) but violence of any kind is abhorrent and I believe very strongly no justification exists for resorting to violence except to protect oneself or others, but no other reason.)

No, you make no death threats.  Your victims never know you're there...  (cue maniacal laughter)

Alfred HitchClock

P.S.  Dingle back on ignore so think about adopting a pro-ignore stance, please?  A life without Aimee Semple McPherson would be a tragedy but a life sans dingos (sill voo play?) is established in fewer than 5 minutes, or your money back!

OK, stupid mistake #2 -- don't browse the forums if you're not logged in because the ignore feature doesn't ignore anyone and stuff like this splatters against another cosmic fan.

that's what they said about the guy who just massacred 30+ people.

That was a very low, lame' and inappropriate reference to a matter of actual national importance, not some melodramatic twinkster on a pretty obscure web forum for those in our special club.

I seriously doubt you inferred serious death threats -- don't you live in Florida?  I mean, come on.  Screaming such foolishness on the forum is as pathetic as someone disingenuously threatening suicide, isn't it?

Dingles, do you, by any chance, get vertigo or nose bleeds when walking through a sewer?  Just a simple yes/no will do. (If an answer is forthcoming will someone please quote it in a subsequent post?  Dingles is on ignore and I'm doing no more unidentified surfing after failing another test).

Are you available at the Cohan Theatre next Wednesday, 4/25?  Auditions are at present still open but I must warn you competition in all aspects of the production is unparalleled in modern theatre history.  We've got Philip Glass, that Phantom guy, Walter Williams, and even Leonard Bernstein has returned from the dead to audition.

Good luck!  Break a leg.

OK, that's done.  Now I can get lost again.

Dingo,

As someone who has been warned and warned and given chance after chance over the course of a few years now, you've got a lot of nerve questioning our decision to give someone else a second chance.

Dingo, you've run out of second chances. Please keep that in mind.
