Sing, Sing A Song

On tonight's "The Voice" - Blind Auditions, Part 2, Cee Lo Green picked this guy for his team...

http://www.mtv.com/videos/news/731711/jamar-rogers-triumphs-on-the-voice.jhtml

More info about Jamar:

Rogers is a 29-year-old former drug addict from New York who was also featured on "American Idol" during season eight alongside his best friend and eventual finalist Danny Gokey. During his addiction, he contracted HIV. Now that he is clean and sober, Rogers volunteers for food-delivery services for the disabled in the Bronx. He also idolizes Cee Lo, so it's good that the "Forget You" Grammy winner turned his chair around for Rogers' performance of the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army."

The Voice is my favorite of the singing competitions, mainly because every contestant invited to be on the show can sing to some degree. You don't have to wade through a bunch of teenager who are fooling themselves that they have any talent. I have recorded this season but haven't watched it yet. I like Jamar's choice of song and hope he does well.

P.S.- I find it annoying when contestants on American Idol insist they should be the winner because they want it more than anyone else- little Veruca Salts the lot of them.

The coaches started to pare down their picks last Monday.

Let the battles begin.

Kim really nailed it last night. As Whitney said "We're both 'powerhouse singers,' though her house is bigger than my house." :)

I admit I got choked up watching HIV+ Jamar compete with his friend Jamie. I felt so bad for Jamie because he is clearly a nice guy, his voice was cracking during rehearsal and he just seemed so vulnerable. When Jamie said "There's a reason for me to be here, and maybe that was to let Jamar win. I mean, he's an awesome person" and then burst into tears I just wanted to give him a hug. Then you had Jamar comment on his HIV and addiction: "You don't have to lay down and die. You can decide to live. You can decide to get better. You can decide to do better." (sniff)

And what the hell was Christina thinking having Lee and Lindsay sing Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box"? In what hair product induced delirium did she think they could pull that off?

I thought with the title of this thread, I'd at least see a link to my most favorite singer of all time.

I finally got a chance to watch and I totally agree. Kim wore it out!  Her seasoned maturity really shows.  I would've been mad if Whitney had been picked over Kim, who I feel still has many opportunities available in the future.

I felt that Jamie isn't quite ready yet for primetime, and I was happy that Jamar made it.

As far as that Nirvana battle went: I felt that maybe Christina did it to get rid of Lee because she just didn't know what to do with him, and maybe had buyer's remorse after she'd picked him initially?  That was one strange battle - and I just didn't see him becoming a real breakout star; or at least not on this show.
