Cuts on penis allow transmission?
« on: November 20, 2009, 12:57:16 pm »
Hello, I've been reading all the posts and have gained plenty knowledge and highly respect and trust the people who are answering everyones questions. My question is, though I have read transmission is only a theory by infected fluids entering an open wound, what if those wounds were directly on the penis? Including the head and under the foreskin? In my case they were penile burns from dry sex that have came into contact with another mans semen of unknown status. Also, I have been getting re-occuring dark spots randomly on the body that come for a few days then vanish, I have read this may be a symptom of hiv? Any advice? Thank you!

What you are calling "symptoms" -- those "dark spots" are absolutely not in any way suggestive of HIV infection.

Despite your fears, HIV is a fragile virus and it just doesn't happen that it is transmitted through the kind of irritation or sore or whatever you have described on your penis. Unless that happens during unprotected intercourse which provides the kind of setting to maintain viable HIV.

You should discuss your concerns with your doctor. It's not an HIV situation and there is no need for testing. Really.

Cheers.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate the feedback. Are dark spots that come and go even a symptom of early hiv infection? I have read this on only one website of the many I have 'symptom searched' on. Anyways, you have eased alot of my tension and I thank you.

Road,

You need to know that neither symptoms, nor the LACK of symptoms mean a thing when it comes to hiv infection. You say you had "penile burns from dry sex" and if that dry sex was condomless anal or vaginal intercourse, then you've put yourself at risk and you need to test. If you've never had unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, then you're worrying over nothing.

Hi all, I have read that transmission probability doubles when a herpes sore is present, a bud of mine lubed my penis with his semen and it potentially entered a herpes sore. Is this a risk scenario?? OR does it still have to be through anal/vaginal intercourse? Thanks.

No, that is not a risk. HIV is a fragile virus and it is not NOT transmitted in that manner. Period.

I've also merged your threads. Please follow our rule and keep all of your entries this same thread.

Road,

You should not be letting anyone touch your penis when you have a herpes outbreak. This isn't so much for your benefit as it is for theirs. This is how herpes is spread - ie skin to skin contact. Keep your herpes to yourself.

If you have frequent outbreaks and find it impacts negatively on your sex life, talk to your doctor about taking acyclovir as a herpes prophylactic. (prophylactic means prevention/protection - condoms are also called prophylactics)

And no, what happened was not a risk for hiv infection. It was, however, a risk to your friend for herpes. KEEP YOUR HERPES TO YOURSELF!!!

Thank you ann, this was my very first outbreak which I didn't even know I had herpes at the time, just thought my penis was sore or something. Realized it when the flu like symptoms came then the eruption (ouch!) began. I've asked him about it, he never got anything but he kindly told everyone at work I have herpes which was great what are friends for. Anyways thanks for your input ann much appreciated!

ks like spots appearing
Hey all, I have not yet tested (mainly due to fear,) and am now experiencing strange kaposi-like spots on my torso and buns. 3 total. Painless red patches that do not blanch and have been there a month. They look exactly like the patch stage pics I've seen online. My question is, my potential experience was in october of 08, approx. 1.5 years ago. Is that time frame too soon to develop ks? I keep reading it is a late symptom, then read it can appear anytime. I feel great healthy appetite great energy ect ect but these spots scare the hell outta me. Any advice? Plan on seing my doctor beginning next week just want some advice for the meantime.
