Title: Defying Gravity
Post by: wolfter on October 28, 2011, 08:34:05 am
I've been creating self induced stress due to over committing myself lately.  I tend to do everything to excess.  I was particulary stressing about all my obligations for the weekend.  I was creating my agenda and needed a phone number and promptly grabbed my address book.

This is a newer address book because my old one is a constant reminder of those I lost and I simply needed to "retire" that book and let them rest in peace.  As I opened my address book, I found the words "Defy Gravity" written in bold letters on the inside cover.  I don't even remember writing it.

I sat down and calmy re-lived the memorial service and a calmness enveloped me.  Thanks again Gary for that powerful message.  You've got your work cut out for you this year. ;D  And yes, I'm assuming that you'll be our speaker.

Thanks again!
Wolfter  (who is now energized to follow through with his obligations)

     Hi Wolfy    :)

Yes that was a moving day for many of us .

I was  so glad the message I walked away with was one of love & Not to be afraid

of the past or to  place it away  not to be be enjoyed .  Gary gave me back something

              I had lost  :-*

My induced stress has been my over active twin , Eric .    He fianally got me to get up and moving

I have fallen into a funk of dispear !  No real reason ... Change of weather ? who knows .

Yes I do assume and hope Gary does our  Memeorial again . I get a lot out them .

                                                  Be well ,
                                                                    Weasel

I've had pleasure enough to sit through 2 of Gary's Memorials, and I can tell you that I still to this day call upon the experience of those whenever I feel out of sorts.

I am overseas in Italy between November 1 and 10th.  I am leading a pilgrimage to some of the sacred shrines in Italy... we started in Rome for three days and have now begun to move to other places.  I wanted you all to know that I talked to my group of 26 travelers about "defying gravity" this morning while we were in one of the crypt chapels at St. Peter's magnificent basilica.

I couldn't have had this inspiration or the courage to share it, without the affirmation you all have given me the past several years.  We are defying gravity together...and when we do, our spirits soar!  It does not eliminate our troubles, but it always means there is a reason for hope.

Looking forward to another great AMG next summer.

Thanks for the kind comments and support.

Gary

Gary, is it possible for you to post some of your memorial service talks here online? I'd absolutely LOVE to read them, particularly the one from this year. Hopefully I'll be able to hear it in person next year.

Ann,  When I return from Europe, I will try to reconstruct it and post it on here.  Thanks for asking.

Fantastic, Gary. Thank you. I'll look forward to that. In the meantime, enjoy your trip! Too bad you won't be stopping off on the Rock for a few days. :)

Gary,

I too would be thrilled to hear your words. If there's any I can do to help in making it possible, please ask.

Thanks Todd

Speaking of "defying gravity," I am returning to Las Vegas Sunday night (the 11th) for four days of vacation.  Naturally I will revisit the Stratosphere where I witnessed four (or was it five?) of our AMG colleagues "plunging" over 100 floors to the ground...the ultimate bungee jump.  Talk about defying gravity!  This trip would be even more fun if some of you were here with me.  Oh well...hopefully we will all have Washington DC this summer!

I'm in Vegas now thru Thursday.  Stopped in the Strat last night and sat in "our spot."  Still trying to find the Village People slot, but they change those around so much.  I am out here by myself for a few days of R&R, but just stopping in that lobby bar sure made me miss my AMG family.  For an "unofficial" gathering, we sure had a great deal of fun last August!

Still trying to be a millionaire....

Certainly hope you're having a grand time Gary.  Also hope you find enough time to recreate the memorial speech. ;D

Have fun buddy and remember, Manhattan's BAD!  I still have the nasty taste in my nostrils.
