URGENT...FLORIDA RESIDENTS VOTE "NO" ON AMENDMENT 2
« on: September 23, 2008, 04:33:50 pm »
Florida residents, vote NO on amendment 2,  this November 4. It is discriminatory !!

Text of "Florida Marriage protection" Amendment- 2 :

Inasmuch as marriage is the union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.

http://www.fairnessforallfamilies.org/

VoteNoOn2 is a coalition of over 260 civic, faith, and social justice groups who are working together to protect Florida's families and educate voters about the harm that will be caused by Amendment 2. Join this effort and learn about how these so-called "marriage protection" amendments in other states have forced the cancellation of health insurance for thousands of couples and their children.

Amendment 2 does nothing to protect marriage. But it does take away important family protections, health care insurance, hospital visitation and medical decision-making authority, from all unmarried couples, gay and straight. It permanently bans civil unions and dismantles domestic partner benefits that seniors, teachers, police officers and firefighters rely on in more than 18 communities across the state.
