Okay...  I wouldn't ask this, if I really didn't need it, but please put me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow, 1/3/7. (dirty thoughts are okay too!)

I'm going to look at a room for rent, and it will help me to get out of my socialization funk, and to help me get out of my abusive roommate situation (If you really want the details, read below).

I need all your best thoughts and well-wishes for the "right" thing to happen, whatever that may be!  please!  Send those thoughts my way!  I'm in need!

-joseph

Back-history:

I moved into my current place because it was cheap... I didn't know why, until later...   My roommate enters my room without my permission, and goes through my possessions.  He does this under various guises, and he also treats me in an imperious fashion.  Today, when I came home from work, he jumped all over me before I could even remove my coat, because one of his tables had gotten some water damage from a cup I placed on it.  - the water damage was my fault, and I am willing to purchase the table from him, or get it refinished, however, he totally turned passive agressive on me, after I asked him not to talk to me as he was - about an hour later, when I asked him where the lid was for one of the pots I was using to cook, he said, "I really don't care."  and he has been avoiding me for the rest of the evening.  I cannot continue this living situation.   He even eats my food without permission, and doesn't replace it. :(  I'm tired of living this way.

I will not be treated this way any more.  So, I began my proactive approach, and started looking for a new place to live.  Needless to say, I think I may have found one.  Wish me luck!

Thanks!  I'm going to print all of these positive thoughts throughout the day tomorrow, and pin them to my cubicle walls so I can bask in the hope, before my meeting with the new prospective roommates.  Every thought helps! :)  I need all the positive energy (no pun intended) I can get!

I've spent all night on the phone looking for a place... I've got two that are in the works...  I think I will rest.

Hey Joseph,

Sounds like you are living with the guy who separated the clean dishes and reorganized the kitchen so he would not get HIV from me.  I called a cab and moved the same day after getting out of the hospital.  This was the first of seven roomies since my AIDS diagnosis.  I have seen multiple personality disorders, drug addicts, several alcoholics and some social anxiety disorder.  I got a dog for company and gave the rental room to that dog.  Have the best day

I call them types roommates from hell, they have no respect for anything of yours but expects you respect all their shit. I had to end a friendship because of it and now found, well have known that they are now mooching from another friend of mine and she is trying to get rid of them but that's a whole nother story. While you go to the other apartments tomorrow just don't size up the living area but the people too. I will be rooting for you, sweetie.

I'm positive Joseph.  Positive you'll come up with something good.  Where are you looking?  I used to live up off of Geary, across from kaiser.  That's a nice neighborhood.  All sorts of buses...#1 Sutter, #2 California; #4 Clement...the 38 Geary (local and express) and the Divisadero bus to the Castro.

Whereever you go, I'll be thinking of you kiddo....

   Joseph,

Is his name John by any chance?  Okay just kidding...   I do wish you the best of luck though my friend.   If they  see what I have seen in the "Favorite Position" thread they will know to rent that room to you in a heartbeat...

Ummm, tip don't use said thread as a reference though!

Hey Joseph.  All the best on the search!  Try to keep in looking mode, even if something seems to be close to doable because if something screws with it, you won't even blink: you have the next ones in line.  Your post has made me guilty about my vacant bedroom and relieved that no one is here at the same time.  Best, Win

   Joseph,

Is his name John by any chance?

  Thomas

Actually, yes, his name is John. LOL

This morning, I woke up for the gym, but was so tired from the stress, that I called my gym partner to cancel. :(  (bad me) And, I started to go to the bathroom to take a piss.  He said to me, "You can't use the bathroom right now, I have to get ready for the Hospital" (he's going in for some spine surgery and has always been terrible with time management to the point I've become cautious of helping him with anything because of his tendancy of becoming a time vampire) and he walked in and turned on the shower.  He didn't even ask me if I had to take a piss or crap.  The shower ran for about 5 minutes before he returned to the bathroom to shower.

Subsequently, he caught me right before he finally got into the shower as I was taking a nice, long, relieving piss in the kitchen sink.   I figured it was either that or his coffee cup.  LOL  After rinsing the sink, I noticed that he had responded to the note I left for him before going to bed last night, asking for a receipt for my January Rent payment.  To which I received the reply, "Right after you settle the matter of the damage to my $500 table."

THEN, exasperated, I left a note saying that he could keep my security deposit for repairs and that he could consider my 30 day notice to be given and that I'd be out by January 31.  I went back to my room at this point to try and get more sleep.  When I got up for work, I found the next response, "That's fine, I'll write the recipt when we confirm that in writing, I'm late for the hospital." (um, I think that's what we just did, dumbass)

So, it's official.  He stopped talking to me last night after I told him how I don't like him in my room without permission, eating my food without replacing it or telling me, buying the quarters I keep on my desk for laundry, speaking to me in a demeaning mannor, and using my room for storage when I left town without asking me (I went back to Iowa in August, and came home ill... when I got home, my bed was turned up and there were boxes in the middle of my room - and when I asked him to move them, he replied - at 3 p.m., mind you, "I'm sleeping, I'll do it later.")

This is the sort of behavior I have been putting up with.  It has been my own fault, I know, but I'm going to respect myself more this year, and I'm not putting up with bullshit like this from ANYONE.

So... :)

Keep those good thoughts coming!  I can still see my cubicle walls!

Well, my last roomie turned out to be a nightmare of the HIGHEST order.  Emphasis on the highest part is deliberate.  My first evening there, I stepped on the end of a hypodermic needle.  Yes, that's what I said.  Turns out that I could expect between 20-40 visitors per evening in 5 minute installments, followed by an orgy in the next room with a few select hangers on.  This was essentially EVERY night.  There were also 2 or 3 semi-permanent straglers that never left.  They were unofficial roommates (unoffically in that they never paid rent).  Apparently, they were considered to be too risky to be given the boot to...due to their potential unwanted PR for my roomie's income supplementation (which I was assured was a slanderous lie when I was moving in).  There was almost ALWAYS someone in my room when I got home from work.  Anyway, I couldn't take it- I bolted.  I found out sometime later that he had had some trouble with the law.  Imagine.

Guess your current roomie can assume new lustre in light of this little tale, eh?

Wow!

Thank you guys, soooooooo much!

I don't know whether it was the power of the positive thoughts I printed out and covered my cubicle with --twice over--, the power of the kosher voodoo priestess in Sonoma County who threw her kosher chicken nuggets around in her freezer on my behalf, or just the harnessed power of the full moon (thank you sonomabeach).  But, I had some amazing experiences today!

It began with my empowered feeling, after my last posting. :)  I felt like Tina Turner, in my white pantsuit, covered with blood after the limo incident. :)  YAY!  And I think the Travelodge is gonna hve me.

I took the bus to the interview, and shortly after I got on, a blind man got on and sat next to me (his name is paul, I found out) and began feeling up on my legs while his dog looked onward as though nothing was happening.  I was so appalled by this action that I was left with no recourse but to immediately give him my phone number.  I left him half-way on his journey, with a promise to meet me for coffee (I almost asked him to the movies - how rude!).  I'd like to secretly believe that he thought I was handsome (kind of like ray charles did with women's wrists) just from feeling the meat of my legs.  he was hot!

Anyway, I was feeling incredibly empowered by the time I met the potential roommates, and they fell victim to my every weapon in my arsenal of potential roommate temptation.  I am on fire boys!

So, I'm expecting that they'll call tomorrow and offer me the room.  It's in a prime location and is cheap enough. and will help me to get out of my isolation funk.

HAPPY GODDAMN NEW YEAR!!

-JOSEPH
