Yeah, assuming you want to watch sex tapes with puppies in them :)

Has anyone gone on the Poz Cruise before?  I love cruises!  I noticed the travel agency offers to "match" up travelers who are traveling alone.  Anyone had any experience with this?  It sounds like it would be a cool cruise.

I've never gone on a poz cruise before, but I love cruises.  I would be going by myself, as well, so I would be wanting to have a roomate, too.  I think they will put you with someone (hopefully hiv+ as well).  Or you can request to be someone's roomate.

You don't need to tell me. I thank my lucky stars all the time. He's done so much for me since my PML diagnosis. Probably wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him.

I inquired and found out that Cruise lines are very used to people with mobility problems and that I could also request a wheel chair accessible cabin if I needed one. Also the ships have elevators so I don't need to worry so much about stairs. My last concern was a doctor and I was told they would be having an HIV doc sailing with the group.
I talked it over with Jeffrey and I think we are going to do it.  :)

PML - Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy -  characterized by widespread lesions due to infection by a human papovavirus. It occurs almost exclusively in immunosuppressed individuals, such as patients with AIDS, leukemia, or tumors or those undergoing organ transplants.

No need to be sorry I never heard of it either until I was diagnosed. If you search for PML online don't believe everything you read as I found nothing good. In my case as well as others the disease can be slowed down greatly by increasing CD4 and substaing an undetectable viral load.

I considered it last year and due to relocating to Arizona and a new job I of course wasn't able to go. I have the time scheduled off for this years cruise but haven't really looked much into it besides of when it is scheduled for. I hear the group size is approximately 100 hiv + people.

Thanks for the insight guynphx.  I wondered how many people in the group usually.  And what kind of a mix it was.

I wonder if the HPV vaccine would help prevent PML if somone hasn't been exposed to hpv yet?

I'm by no means a doctor but I don't think the HPV vaccine has any effect on the JC virus. If it did I'd think my doctor would have recommended it for my partner.
PML is caused by  the JC virus.  The virus is a polyomavirus, a family of viruses that also includes human papillomavirus (HPV).More than 70% of all adults in the United States are infected with the JC virus, usually during early childhood. However, the virus only becomes active in people who have compromised immune systems. It usually occurs in people with very low T-cell counts (less than 100)

I need a vacation where there are no computers or phones so the cruise is sounding good to me.  I have about a 75% chance of going at this point.  Just need to figure out my schedule during that time span.

Hi all...just back from vacation.  I'm planning to go on the cruise...there is a group of us SIN members in NY that are planning to go as a group.  There is a discount for 15 or more persons going as a group, not sure of the amount.  So, might be an incentive.

Hi all.  I reserved my balcony room last week...as said, space is filling fast.  Paul, the organizer, can only hold a block of rooms until the end of May, per the last email I received from him.  At present, over 100 are registered.  So, do it fast, or miss the boat!

The cruise is filling up fast. Found out yesterday for the POZ group there are 140 people booked! (45 straights, 95 gay)
Act fast if you're still considering it.
