Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Hi all,

First, thank you to everyone who participates in the forums.  I have been reading them, and they are full of great information!  I do have a question and I desperately need some advice.  I have been so worried about this that I have not been able to sleep for a couple of weeks.  Here is the situation: two weeks ago, I met up with this guy and we started masturbating (just ourselves, not each other).  He really wanted me to cum in his hand, so I did.  I did not want him to touch me at all, but just after I came he did touch my penis head for a few seconds.  He had not cum yet, but I am really worried that he may have had some precum on his hands and it might have gotten on my urethra when he touched me.  I don't know his HIV status, I'm not sure if he had any precum on his hand, but it is possible.

So, what I am asking is, can get HIV if some precum touches or gets in the urethra?  I have seen questions that are similar to this on this site and others, and I have called numerous hotlines, but everyone seems to have a different opinion on this, so I am very, very confused.  Some places say that there is no chance of this happening, but others say there are.  I am so scared and confused that I don't know what to do.  Is there anyone who can help me?  I do plan to get tested, but I have to wait 3 months and I'm afraid I will go crazy in the meantime.  Please, please help if anyone can.  Thanks so much.

There may be many opinions on this question but there's only one that matters and that's the one I'm about to give you. So let us hear no more talk about other sites, telephone hotlines and the like.

You were not at risk of HIV infection from this rather mundane sexual encounter. Someone touching the head of your penis whether there is precum on his fingers or otherwise is not now, nor has it ever been a risk.

You are, of course, free to test for HIV in 3 months but the result will undoubtedly be negative. Please take the time to read our Welcome Thread and follow the links to our Lessons to learn more about how HIV is and is not transmitted

You have absolutely nothing to worry about, please read the welcome thread and follow the lessons on how HIV is and is not transmitted.
