We're not expected to get much past 33 degrees for our HIGH temp in the next 10 days. We should be in the low to mid 40's. Spring seems so distant.  :(

Yes! Our predicted high for tomorrow is 8F.  The next 2 weeks, not supposed to be over 35F.  I'm sick of this!!  My daughter told me, over the weekend, her goal is to get me to move to Washington to be with her.  I just don't know if I could stand all that rain.

Are you crazy? Move. Not just for the weather, it's a more relaxed liberal environment.

Where exactly in Washington?

ps: it's going down to 14F tomorrow, 11F Thursday night; 1 inch of snow possible tomorrow

Olympia.

Of course the other issue with moving to another state, especially clear across the country, would benefit issues (Medicaid), finding another doctor etc.

Been there, done that -- it's not as hard as you think. The hard part is the actual packing and moving of possessions.

They're predicting another horrible artic blast of snow and frigid weather.  We're already around zero with no relief in the immediate future.  They're only predicting 8 - 10" for our area but we're dead center of the storm so who knows?

Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.

Hopefully yellow...and not yellow lame or pale yellow. Good lord, you'd have to go bar hopping with an interior designer just to pick up the right hankey-colored trick!

Miss P is all stocked up on food preparations. Unfortunately I can't eat any of it because my freshly root-canaled rear molar hurts like a *%^&#)@ and you know how these Yankee doctors/dentists don't dole out percocets like candy in Texas.

Did you have the tooth pulled willingly or did the state have you defanged .

It was not pulled -- I had full endodontic therapy at Ivy League University of Pennsylvania's brand new state-of-the art Syngcuk Kim Endodontic Clinic (please scroll down and click through the photo gallery!) I am supposed to live with this temporary stuff on top of what they just did for two weeks, then they do a "crown buildup" next appointment followed finally by the actual crown full-cast. And remember, it was just ten days ago that they drilled out the two old fillings in the tooth and replaced it with yet some other temporary stuff, so by the end of the day this takes FOUR APPOINTMENTS (EACH AT LEAST FOUR HOURS LONG) to complete.

Then, of course, they want to do another crown after that but that may not happen until the summer or even next fall.

The only things I am to be charged for is the actual crown part ($135 each)

ps: IT STILL REALLY FUCKING HURTS

I know that's right!  My surgeon wrote a script for enough pain meds for 3 weeks.  Anyway, sorry you're going through that.  I used to hate root canals.  When I had teeth lol.

Mine wasn't supposed to hurt because it was more a "pre-emptive" root canal, meaning it was caught very early. They could have redone the fillings but it would have only delayed having a root canal for 1-2 years. I was told with the kind I have the pain should be very temporary and easily addressed with OTC ibuprofen and tylenol. Well, I'm not sure of that yet.

At worst I will have to go back Monday morning if the pain is still bad (which, of course, means at the height of this snow storm). It feels to me like something chipped off on the back of it.

I swear someone put a Santeria curse on me -- every week something new and bad happens.

ps: what they told me this morning over the phone pretty much lines up with what I read here

NWS slightly shifted snow totals south overnight. I went from being on the border of 6-8"/8-10" to being firmly in the middle of the 8-10" area. Snow totals in the NYC area and points north have seen decreases in projected snow totals.

Of course, now the question is whether or not they'll keep adjusting the totals upwards in the next 36 hours before the storm beings.

If Philadephia receives in excess of 6 inches this will officially become the second snowiest winter season on record. #1 was only four years ago.

ps: good news on my tooth -- somehow my tooth guard not allowed me an entire night's uninterrupted sleep. When I grind my teeth wearing it for some reason it's not hitting the sensitive part of the tooth that had surgery. Bad news is that this morning it's just as sore as yesterday. If worse comes to worse I can just wear the guard during the day when I'm at home and/or not eating.

I had a 3 hr break from the rain in Palm Springs and spent the morning by the pool with an umbrella in my after breakfast cocktail. As for flip flops mine r practically worn out.

71 here now - after hitting a high of 79 today (of course, I was stuck in the house most of the day doing homework - at the tail end of my MBA program and it is sucking every ounce of time and energy out of me - at least right now)...

Oh and tomorrow we will once again hit a high of 79.... and I will only be able to venture out to go grocery shopping and to get oil changed on car...but I will do that in shorts and a t-shirt.

If you live in Virginia when you wake up you may have some surprises in store, as all the latest models have pushed this entire storm down there. Big time.

Of course, I have a dentist appt. for my cleanning and an appt. to drop my car off on Monday morning for some maintenance....  oh well, looks like I shall be working from home with "dirty" teeth.

Looks like we are about to get hit.  Earlier in the week, they just had us with ice.  Now, we are looking at up to 6 inches of snow here.  The NAM model has us getting 12, but they think that's too much.

So, I'm sure school will be out Monday and maybe Tuesday.  I guess school is going to July.  Well, mid-June.  I've heard there is a bill to knock off days to make up, since so many districts have missed so many days.

They have kids going to school on holidays here to make up snow days.  I feel bad for the kids.  I do not remember having to make up snow days when I was in school, unless I'm remembering incorrectly.

My parents in Loudoun are going to get hit really hard with up to 1 ft, though it extends all the way over to the three most southern counties in NJ receiving 10-14" while I only get 6-8" sixty miles away. Oh, and then the morning after the storm ends (early Tuesday) the temperature goes down to 3℉ :(

The WXrisk.com guy on FB that's usually correct seems to think Richmond is getting 8-12" and the NWS has your 4-7" incorrect. A foot of snow in Richmond would be hilarious.

Oh what a difference a mere few miles makes.  About 20 miles south of us, it was warm enough that they're pounded with ice whereas we're simply getting snow.  We're dead center of path that's expecting the most snow.  Up to a foot possible.

The weatherman said we should be grateful for the cold temps this morning because we won't deal with any ice.  I'm going to attempt to not look at our sidewalks or driveway later lest my OCD will dictate that I shovel it.  Not sure where or when I developed that internal need to constantly clear the snow and have perfectly manicured walks and driveways?

Stay safe all!

Philly's totals have been lowered to 3-6"

NWS says 4-8" for Richmond but WxRisk.com begs to differ slightly

Wow, as a sign of how far south this storm system has shifted the NWS has put up winter weather advisories as of this morning as far south as Dillon County, South Carolina.

Storm totals for my area were reduced to 2-4" overnight, and 1-2" for the northern half of the city. 36 hours ago they were saying we were to get 8-10".

My prayers to Zeus really worked as this entire shifted entirely south of us.  We barely got an inch.  :)

bitterly cold, but at least I won't blow out my mesh wraps shoveling snow all day.

URGENT!

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory as of 10 minutes ago....but we are taking lightning strikes all over SA and get this, It is Thundersleeting just west of SA.

I've never heard a weatherman say "thundersleet".

Is this the End of Days?

PS- If my house gets hit by lightning and I'm forced to go out in the sleet I'ma be a pissed off bitch.

Yesterday morning it was 60 degrees and by noon it was 34. We had thunder and lightning followed by sleet and then snow. The high today was 24.

It's 19F in Philly right now. It's actually -1F in Culpeper, VA which was the epicenter of the snowfall 200 miles southwest.

Sorry mitchypoo -- I am hereby shutting down your (very) premature spring fling thread in order to provide winter storm forecast duties. Like the storm a couple of weeks ago this one was forecast further north until late yesterday so you may be hearing different things depending on where you look. NWS has already also nudged it's significant accumulation areas further south by 100-150 miles overnight. Almost a duplicate of the previous "Virginia" storm forced south by Polar Vortex #5.

This should be the last one for the season there in the Mid Atlantic.  Just my prediction.  Those cherry blossoms have to make their appearance soon you know.

So Miss P -- Why is it you like this forecaster??  He has been way off for the last few storms in Richmond?  Was expecting a few inches and all I have is a thin layer of snowy ice covering everything -- not even 1/2".

Doncha just hate it when you're promised over eight a few inches and all you get is barely 1/2?

I only posted his "first call" map (48 hours out) -- didn't bother with his final map because by then it wasn't that relevant for Philadelphia, but here it is -- and it's fairly accurate for what you got, meaning an all sleet event (he posted it 19 hours ago). Also, NWS was similar for Richmond, and weather.com shows Richmond still receiving off/on wintry mix/sleet throughout the remainder of the day (maybe you should look at the radar before emitting your premature ejaculations).

Otherwise the reason I read his forecasting is that what he does on Facebook isn't a "hobby" -- it's more of a side project to his professional job which is forecasting for global traders, investors and business. Meaning he's paid a lot more money than some glamazon/failed model that does the forecasting on your local TV news channel.

Also, cocks

His 1-2" was accurate for Philadelphia. I don't know our final totals yet but I expect it to be 1.5" with larger totals as predicted for central DE and southern NJ. I think I also just read that DC had ~5" and I think my parents in Loudoun had ~6". I've seen pictures of around Luray, VA (25 miles north of Charlottesville) with almost a foot.

***BREAKING NEWS*** PHL (the airport) reports 4.5" of snow officially making this winter season Philadelphia's second all time snowiest on record with 67.4" (we needed 2.7" from this storm to achieve that). This is where, for official record keeping, the city records its amounts but for those not familiar with Philadelphia the airport is at our most southern point, and the far northeast of the city limits is 25 miles away. People living in the northeast probably only saw 1 inch, and downtown only 2.5". Also, it's still snowing moderately right now and may do so for another two hours.

I live 8 miles from the airport and 1.5 miles south of downtown.

ps: our all-time snowiest winter was only four years ago -- can you say "climate change" Wumpy?
