Favorite drink (alcoholic)
« on: January 25, 2007, 04:25:41 pm »
Sorry teetotallers.

Recently we've had favorite commercials, favorite ethnic foods, favorite TV shows etc. So, on this icy afternoon (smoke free but I'm waiting for cocktail hour), I thought I'd get to know my fellow forum members better by asking them what their favorite tipple was.

If it's a specific whiskey (or gin, or vodka, or rum, or liqueur etc), let us know.

If it's an esoteric cocktail, recipes appreciated.

If it's wine, please specify grape or region or even chateau.

If it's beer (what? beer counts as a drink?  ;D ), throw in a brand name or type of beer.

All in the name of research.

Dirty Raspberry Cosmo with a twist - chilled and up

Ingredients:
1/3      Raspberri Schmirnoff
1/3      Triple Sec
1/3      Cranberry juice (Pomegranite juce is best)
1 tinkle cherry juice
1 twist  Lemon rind

2 of these'll knock you on your ass - and you won't even know it!

A Cape Cod with Absolute will do fine with me (and a slice of lemon inside).
A white wine (any as long as it tastes good and is above the $8.00 price range).
On the rocks I like Baileys.
My favorite mixed drink that has over 4 liquers is called an "Orgasm" but I don't know if this drink is well known.

Oh, I almost forgot the beer. I'm simple here, give me a Coors Lite or my island's own Medalla ( the local beer).

Summer
any vodka on ice
Followed by a couple bottles of a nice red and then on to an afternoon of Black Russians, 80% vodka,20%kahlua
Spring and Fall(there is no winter in Texas)
Budwieser before 5pm(none of that lite shit). After 5, Crown with a splash. Necktar of the Gods. And then probably on to red wine and Black Russians.
Thank God I dont drink anymore.

Single-malt Scotch: Macallan, Lagavulin

Whiskey: Any decent blend, on the rocks

Cocktail: Gin martini, not too dry, up, couple of olives

Cocktail #2: Tanqueray and tonic

Liqueur: Drambuie

Not a wine connoisseur but like full-bodied reds.

Beer: No thanks (except in special circumstances)

Loathing for: Rum and coke

Loathing for #2: Sweet fruity drinks with umbrellas in them

I just looked that up and it looks (sorry) vile. Red Bull copycat kinda thing?

It's better than Red Bull... in that it has booze already in it.  It's like an energy/booze cocktail for lazy people.

They taste like cough medicine... but after the third, they're pretty amazing.   ;)

Whenever something displeases my friends and me... we swear to make Richmond's streets flow "orange with Sparks."

It's that fucking popular.

Best thread ever!  I still don't think you can beat a cold beer on a summers evening in a beer garden.  Other than that though Redbull and double Jägermeister takes some beating!  There is a good chance you might find that disgusting by the way it's an acquired taste.  I pretty much like vodka with anything as well i'm easily pleased haha.

mmmm. Bordeaux. Such impecable taste have you. My partner in crime brought me back an 89 Latour that was just as smooth as silk.

90 Dom is also high on my list, though it's getting rather scarce AND expensive.

In a pinch, martini me in Grey Goose - tie it neat and double twisted, if you please.

The Memories of Palm Springs special = extra large glasses of ice filled with baileys. Nothing says I'm easy quite like excessive sun and booze.

Out for dinner = Manhattan up

at home = Evan Williams Bourbon with diet lemon-lime

medieval drink = Mead (I make it. Prefer stuff that I have aged 2 or more years. My oldest stuff is 13 years old.)

Beer = Homemade Stout's or Dubbel's ( I make those, too.)

Skeebo - That would be because Stouts are charged with nitrogen instead of CO 2. It makes the bubbles go down instead of up in the glass. I can't do that yet. I use CO 2 on my 5 gallon kegs.

Dancer, I was out with some friends tonight and they love doing Irish Car Bombs. (That's half a pint of Guinness with a shot glass of Bailey's dipped in, and you drink the vile concoction before it curdles.) How, oh how do people drink these things?

There's no disputing tastes, said some long-dead Roman. To which Oscar Wilde replied: they're the only thing worth disputing about.

"coat of the dog that mauled me"

I don't get liquored up that often, my body doesn't agree with it... and, it usually only happens when I go visit my Irish drinking buddies in Iowa.  You should pay a call on them with me when I next come to visit, lyddy.

I'll make you a raspberry cosmo! :)

Franzia!

At W&M, a student sketch comedy group put on a sketch in which Jesus turned water into boxed wine.

I laughed.  Really hard.

Oh man.

It was really great.  I remember my friend Georgia was playing Mary... and she was like, "Oh, Jesus... we are all out of wine for this wedding... whatever shall we do?"

And the guy playing Jesus said, "Don't worry!  I shall turn this ordinary water... into wine in a box!" And then he pulled out an empty box of Franzia and held it over his head all triumphant like.

Seriously, about a hundred college students simultaneously lost their shit.  It was great!

I see Jean likes Manhattan's (no bourbon specified) and to quote Philly:

Makers Mark Manhattan, up

Yep, that's the best!  (Cept I like em on the rocks with just a tiny smidge of grenadine)

(In the summer I'll sometimes have Gin (Boodles) and Tonic)

Lou-Uh-Vull (though he hasn't posted here) loves em too!

I'm with Nadine, my drink of choice is a Pepsi. When I want something to drink, I usually go for Arbor Mist. Yeah, I know, not the elegant stuff y'all drink. Back in the day, I use to drink:

Tangueray, straight up
beer, it was Colt 45 or 8 ball bka Old English 800, when I crave a beer now, I prefer a Corona

I can't seem to stomach that stuff anymore so I go with the girlie drinks even though I do like an Incredible Hulk or a Long Island Iced Tea...
