Title: Bactrim DS
Post by: jgreen1094 on August 01, 2013, 01:07:17 pm
I am leaving for vacation this weekend and was just prescribed Bactrim DS for a skin infection. I have read the warning, but I feel like I need a little more information. How photosensitive will my skin be? It says to avoid prolonged or excessive exposure to the sun but what exactly does that mean? Also, I feel like I know the answer but what about alcohol? Even in moderation?

I was on bactrim for 15 years and although it is a photosensitive drug I simply applied more sunscreen and kept a watch on myself .

I also drank like a fish on weekends back then and I here talking to you now . As Ann says , everything in moderation including moderation .

And welcome to the Forums !

I was on bactrim 10 yrs, drank like a fish on weekends (still do a lot now), and never used sunscreen. I would get a little extra red at times, and sorta itchy; but anyone who knows me knows that's never been enough to stop me living by my pool for as much of each summer as possible. ;)

but everyone is different. If you start burning; put on extra sunscreen and get out of the sun for while (duh! LOL), drink in moderation (your liver will thank you), and drink lots of water.
