I've always found orange juice far too acidic to drink much of.  It just never seems to mix well with all of my medication, so I need to drink something like apricot or pear juice.  I'm fine eating actual oranges though.

I'm with you there, one glass a day of OJ is OK, but not more.

Also for those who have to worry about their weight, fruit juices in general are loaded with calories. Even if these calories are from natural sugar, they are not good in excess.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the acidity concerns.  I can't drink grapefruit juice either -- or like you very little for the same reason.  Basically I very rarely drink juice because of the sugar as well, and prefer to eat the actual fruit as I figure it's also extra fiber.

I very rarely drink juice; I don't like how it makes me feel.  First, drinking it is really addictive; I want to drink more and more.  Then, afterwards I feel more thirsty than ever, and really heavy.  Eating oranges or grapefruits by contrast I feel great.  The only exception is freshly squeezed--as in squeezed right in front of me, at the moment of drinking--and that's a great pleasure and a rare treat.  Still, it doesn't fit into my "whole foods" philosophy.  A tall glass of juice gives me the sugar of maybe ten oranges and the fiber of almost none.  Not a good idea!

All,

I understand how the acidity and sugar content in oj could be an issue for some, however, they do have low sugar, low acid alternitives. Of course, if it's not to your liking then that's a different story. I like that it helps to raise HDL. A nice alternative to other substances needed to do same:

Tommy,

I have never tried goji berries. Did you like them.?

Sorry, I did try them once in an energy bar from "Whole Foods" called Macro Reds.

I have severe hypertriglyceridemia
my doctor, endocrinologist and registered medical dietitian said (as well as gave me a list) said to stay away from any OJ.

A screwdriver to go with your Cheerios + Bailey's eh?  That's a hearty breakfast.
