sad christmas/ getting tested today

on aug 20 i had a sexual encounter with a male i bottomed. we used protection on the first half of the act....later drugs came into place..i was offered poppers but i dont know what that was. he said it was legal so i did it.he did it too.the second half i am pretty sure he didnt have his condom on....i stopped him after a while i am pretty sure he did not ejaculate inside me but still he could have had pre cum etc...well i fainted and ended up e.r for overdose of what turns out to be meth..he lied to me turns out poppers are things you smell. the thing he gave me i snorted...just a few days i was going to look for his online profile where we met. so i googled his user name and the first thing that came up was a profile on this site called hivpassions..it had no photo but the whole description matched his weight his height his personal description everything! it said he hadnt been on more the 3 months i became hysterical i found his number and i called him...he said we used pertection the whole time when in fact i know he took it off half way...he said i had nothing to worry since he is clean. he said he gets tested once a year and the last time he got tested it was last december when he got foot surgery. i asked him why do you have a profile on a website for hiv dating . his response was i havent been on those sites for months..then he said F**k now imma gonna have to get tested ill call you back when i get tested and hangs up...it made me so confused did he hang up cause he really is clean and is worried to get tested or did he hang up cause he knows he has it but just wanted to end the conversation. ..my stress level was trough the roof...i ended up in the hospital on christmas eve from a panic attack...they gave me anxiety medicine it has helped me control it somewhat but the fear is still there..i cant function im to scared to even go to work..all i do is google symptoms which doesn't help at all..before all this i have been coughing at night, flem, runny nose ..a fever but never passes 99.6...my skin has dry patches, body aches but i dont know if that the effect on my anxiety or the medication or of the extreme cold weather we are having.....i dont have the night sweats or diarrhea at the hospital my lympnodes werent swollen but you never know alot of people dont experience symptoms ...im getting tested today in a few hours ..im just so scared ...i hope im negative ... if he knew he had it and did not tell me ...is that a crime?....im so confused at least im doing the right thing getting tested ...living with the fear of what if is not worth it

Please stop using the word "clean" to describe a person's hiv status. To describe someone who is hiv negative as clean implies that those of us who are poz are dirty - and it's offensive.

Neither symptoms nor the lack of symptoms will ever tell you a single thing about your hiv status - only testing will.

The fact that he did not cum in you is in your favour, but you still had a risk regardless.

Your test today will be conclusive if negative. If it is positive, it is only conclusive if a confirmatory Western Blot test has also been run and that is also positive.

Good luck with the test. You are doing the right thing - and as a sexually active adult you should be testing regularly anyway - for ALL STIs, not just hiv.

i apologize for my using of the word clean..i didnt not mean to offend anyone...i dont think people with hiv are dirty. to me they are normal as any other human. i am deeply sorry if it came out across as negative

so i posted before on this site and i had a encounter with someone who was hiv positive on august 20th...he took the condom off in the middle of the intercourse but did not ejaculate...and i was the bottom (anal sex)...i got tested on december 27th 4 more months later and i am negative so far they said to get tested again in 3 months...i was so happy it came out negative!!! but i have been talking with some friends and family and well they said it can go undetected for up to 10 years. but isn't that the symptoms that can go undetected? they told me the tests are really accurate ...so im confused and worried...can someone clear this out for me please!? thanks

I've merged your threads here. In the future if you have occasion to write here, please follow our rule and always use only this same thread.

As for your latest concern, your friends don't know squat about HIV infection. While it is true that someone who is HIV+ may not manifest symptoms for ten years or more, all but the smallest number of those are HIV+ will test positive within 3 months. A very small number may take up to 6 months to test positive.

But that's it. That 10 years to test positive is just nonsense.

And you are HIV negative. Period. Let it go and get on with your while always remembing when having intercourse the insertive partner has to wear a condom. No exceptions.
