ACA/Health Insurance?
« on: June 10, 2015, 08:37:13 pm »
I've asked this question way back but just to clarify now that the Supreme Court decision on the ACA is looming..If the Court rules against the ACA, who exactly will lose insurance? Does the ruling only pertain to those states who have NOT implemented their own state exhanges? I live in KY which has had a very smooth overall adoption of the ACA & we have our own exchange through the state. I am on Medicaid & currently am in Voc Rehab working & also on KDAP/Ryan White. I know KDAP will still cover my doctor visits & meds thank god, but if the court rules against the ACA will I lose my Medicaid coverage? I have been able to get tons of beneficial care via Medicaid that I wouldn't have in the past, mostly mental health care that I badly needed & still need. Can someone clarify? Someone told me that the ruling would only affect states that do not have their own exchanges, or did not implement the ACA. Please tell me this is true.

Oh btw this is all thanks to the Republicans who brought about this in the first place apparently because they can't stand the thought of people who aren't billionaires having affordable attainable healthcare. Just wanted to make sure everyone is clear on that.

No one will directly lose insurance.

However, it is possible that the IRS Tax Credits for those in States using the Federal exchange could be lost, making the insurance unaffordable for many.

Since you're in KY, with a State operated exchange, there should be no impact to you.
