Well, this is going to be tough, there are 14 women with photos in Canada on pozmatch, and 2 in British Columbia, one of whom I know. I took a look at Washington State which is the closest to me here. I am sure that I am not telling many of you anything new that this is the most difficult issue.

I just browsed pozmatch and found about 3 pages.

Most of them haven't been to the site in more than a year.

Great! Now all I need is a Time Machine and - LOOK OUT !!

Agrees with Thunter about the expiration date on the ads. I guess they got frustrated too and said the hell with it. I know I have because I can never seem to find anyone close to me.

I commented on personals ads in one of the "Dating" threads, but feel compelled to add my
2 cents here as well. Two big issues I have with personals ads are: (1) It is too easy to screen
out people, or be screened out, based on just a tiny bit of information (e.g. I like the mountains,
but you like the ocean -- OMG it will never work!). (2) People really don't seem to read someone's
ad before contacting them (e.g. I just can't date a smoker or drug user). I realize these two
seem to be at odds, so maybe it is important to state what is a preference, versus what is a
"deal-breaker". It'd be nice to find a way to structure a personals web site to promote more
interaction.

Here's a 3rd issue: It's just too darn easy for people to lie about themselves. I think we've all
encountered that.

I'm learning that I do better at meeting folks in person, e.g., through social organizations, clubs,
etc. So I've been trying to do more of that over the past year -- at least it gets me out of the
house more!

The man wasn't attractive but never mind that; he was more than two decades older but never mind that; he has HPV but never mind that. Ok, I will admit that I have lifted right from the page a number of personals to see what I could do by slightly adjusting their meter toward poem creation... and have published the results for (their) pleasure. So perhaps we can take the stress out of personals by posting here (meaning in the forums) the 'best' of the bunch or your latest replies? I'll ckeck out pozmatch.com - I havent' liked poz.com personals at all; I liked (probably because I met some nice guys I liked, it just never worked out as a longterm thing) the old positivepersonals.com, which is now defunct. And I did much better with the old style, where you had to write letters, but then again I was much younger and physically quite attractive, so it was just easier to meet guys anyway (42 is considered ancient in Boston! esp. for other 42 year olds!) (;

I'd much rather meet guys out in the world, but where? I can't seem to find anything that works for me here these days...

Tim, I have 'met' someone via the forums. As I have posted, we found ourselves replying to each other's posts with everyone else silent, so moved things to p.m.'s within aidsmeds.com and then direct emails and phone calls. While the forums are not the personals, I think and hope that anyone reading our comments is getting a sense of the real person, far realer and more personal than personals often are and so, like meeting someone at the gym, via an a.s.o. or somewhere else in the 'real' world, as long as you let readers know enough, such as where you live, your relationship status, there is every reason to expect that someone might 'hit' on you here.

I have never been on pozmatch but, I did meet a few men on Planet-out-to-lunch. Each of these people got a lot older in real life than in their photos. One of them aged 20 years and added 50 lbs in 24 hours!

Things are not what they seem in cyber date world.

Someone I knew once found a "perfect" match for me on gaysonoma. He wasn't the perfect match but is still a great friend. After 3 years on 3 sites, he did finally find his perfect match and is planning to move to Atlanta this year. Have the best day

I don't know how well Pozmatch works for gay men, but for those of us who prefer our parters without penises its a mixed bag, as Pozmatch tends to bring every Nigerian scammer and would-be Russian bride out of the woodwork. Needless to say, be appropriately cautious. Hivnet.com seems to have a smaller user base right now, but its worth a shot. Positivesingles.com is a great looking site, but most of the women have herpes or other STDs than HIV. I wouldn't waste too much time on any other sites right now, although for sheer entertainment, nothing beats Adultfriendfinder, which is a hoot. God only knows how many of the men and woman on that site are the kind who don't disclose that they are actually infected with multiple strains of exotic bugs. Watch where you put your tongue!
