Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Recent exposure tests and oral sex

I just want to let you all know how much your site has helped me even in the past 15 minutes. Thank you so much. Bottom line, I made a mistake and received oral sex from a stripper (I know this risk is minimal) and have fears of being the one in a million case of having been infected. I actually went back to the club and spoke to her several times and she said she was HIV neg having been tested 2 months prior to my experience with her when she had delivered her baby. For my own sanity, to deal with my own guilt and to protect my significant other I want to get tested. Does anyone know the reliability of the RNA tests that say they can do a full std panel within the first 9-11 days of possible exposure? Thanks again for your time and you guys are great.

Your risk was not "minimal" it was non-existent. You do not need to be tested for HIV. No one has ever contracted HIV from receiving a blow-job.

Please take the time to read our Welcome Thread and follow the links to our Lessons to learn more about how HIV is and is not transmitted.

Also, you shouldn't go harassing this woman about her HIV status. It's none of your business. Leave her alone.

Not only should you leave her alone about her HIV status, you should never be relying upon someone else's statements to determine if you were at risk or not.

You are responsible for your own health. You need to avoid unprotected intercourse, either vaginal or anal. Should you ever be in a position where you have reason to be doubtful about your HIV status the only way for you to reliably know the answer is with your own HIV test taken at 13 weeks past the risky incident. Even a well intentioned person may not know their accurate status. Like I said, you need to be responsible for yourself.
