Talk about morning wood
« on: April 17, 2008, 04:07:18 am »
Recently, I started taking a new drug to help me get some sleep called Trazodone.  It's main use is as an anti-depressant but I take it at bed time because of the sedative effects.

One of it's off label uses is for ED! Lately, I have been waking up shall we say Very Excited to start the day!

I've got some of that stuff around here, I think.  If I remember, it hits me kinda like Xanax.  Gee...what a great ED drug.  You'll be rock hard & ready, but you won't be conscious for it.

Trazadone is also another name for Desyrel, an antidepressant that has sedative effects.

A few months I was visiting a friend who was complaining that he wasn't getting enough sleep , so I gave him two of my trazodone pills . They make me  a little sleepy but they knocked him out for 24 hours . So much for sharing medication .

Doesn't Trazodone make you blimp up?  It's been offered to me but I don't want that side effect.

The only "blimping" I get is 'tween the legs  ;D

Try not to take the stuff too often as it can be frustrating... primed and ready but no one around to share with  ;D

Glad to find out I'm not alone.

Ambien wasn't doing the trick for me so the doctors had me try Trazodone.  I could not believe it when I read the possible side effects and sure enough.

I'm definately Randy Andy when I wake up!

:o  Randy Andy would love to commiserate but unfortunately Randy Andy is poor so MEX isn't gonna happen this time.

David, I don't know if Trazadone causes weight loss.  I was told by a nurse to eat something right when I take it (used to take it) and it would work faster.

Trazodone had the same effect for me...worked better than Levitra, in fact.

I was sleeping fairly well with it for awhile, but then it lost its effectiveness...now I'm on Nortriptyline...it works well for me, but it's kinda scary...makes me 'twitch' now and then, and they have to monitor the levels of it in my blood, and today the prescribing psychiatrist ordered an EKG (she's covering her tracks in case I suddenly have a heart attack or seizure, I guess)

Well, thats enough to take the wind out of your sails ... so to speak.  1130pm and I'm just getting ready for bed & my good ole trusty trazodone!
