Reccommendations for safe area's to live in Maryland?
« on: November 08, 2013, 01:20:01 pm »
or what to avoid?

My friend works from home and needs to stay in that area but would like to be as close to CT as possible.

Thanks!

Have her look around Elkton, MD (Cecil county) because it's a nice, safe area ~5 miles south of Interstate 95 right on the border of MD and PA (for quick jaunts to CT).

btw Snow, I should have also mentioned that the other benefit of Elkton, MD (or anywhere in Cecil county) is that if you look on google-maps, Elkton is a mere ten mile drive from Newark, DE which is the home of the University of Delaware. Not a huge town (~30,000) but since it's full of students and is a university one could easily avail oneself with some classes or cultural events, etc. and of course more than a handful of bars.

Also in Cecil is Perryville, which is the last stop on the MARC commuter train line into Baltimore. And Newark, DE is the last stop on the SEPTA commuter train line into Philadelphia. Both of these also provide you access without driving to BWI airport and PHL airport. Sadly only 20 miles prevents a clean connection between MARC and SEPTA which would allow one to travel cheaply from Baltimore to Philadelphia by avoiding Amtrak -- there's been talk of fixing this but I'll believe that when it happens.
