CD4 count is 282!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: October 08, 2007, 02:21:28 pm »
Can you believe it? Blood drawn on 8/30 was CD4 6. Started taking Atripla on September 13. Blood drawn again on 10/1, and CD4 count is 282!

The doctor was very excited, but said that I shouldn't be surprised if it back under 200 next time, because I had just been in the hospital for a week, and I had lots of stuff pumping through me.

But I am very optimistic, and i am feeling better ever day.

Angie, did you have a new lab drawn after you just got out of hospital and you're waiting the results? Or is your doctor saying it was high because of the stuff they gave you?

Either way, congrats on the jump!

Great news! I too started Atripla a few months ago and my CD4 count shot up. I was very happy. Last year while I was taking a Truvada, and Viramune my CD4 count was trickling back up to normal ranges extremely slow.
This combo drug seems to be working for many people. Very happy for you

Congrats!

That combo has worked great for me too for years...

Glad to hear the good news and I'd bet even better news (number wise) in months and years to come.

Good to hear your taking an optimistic approach! You have many reasons to!

Great labs, but thats what meds are for. And sticking with them, and never missing a does will make all the diff long term. My doctor is always amazed how well I"m doing over my last two years on meds, but adds many others he sees are not doing so well. And the main reason is missing dosages. He cant stress enough how important it is to stick with the program and NEVER play with skipping dosages for any reason.

To me, its so scary how this virus attacks and destroys the immune system. The virus is out for a winner take all win, and take no prisoners mindset. These meds shut the virus down big time, and the body wants so much to recover once the virus is near eliminated due to these great meds available today. I cant imagine those that went thru the old days when they had no hope, and the virus won out case after case.

Keep up the good work and keep on track with the meds. They can work wonders.
