Title: You put the camera in, you take the camera out
Post by: aztecan on April 16, 2010, 02:30:20 pm
you put the camera in and you shake it all about . . .  :D

I had my colonoscopy this morning. It went well. The doctor found nothing untoward, not even polyps to excise.

He said I am in good shape and should come back for another colonoscopy in 10 years.  :o ;D

I am quite happy about this.

By the way, the prep was the biggest pain in the whole ordeal. That golytely stuff is just nasty. :P

Oh, I also finally had my PPD done this week. Came out nonreactive. All in all, a very satisfying week for me, medically speaking.

HUGS,

Mark

Glad you got a good report honey.

Isn't that damn  "Go Litely" stuff awful?  Talk about a misnomer....it should be named

GO HEAVILY

hugs, Alan

Sorry so late to post.  That's good news, Mark.  I haven't had the pleasure of a colonoscopy yet, but my doctor says with my dad having had colon cancer, it's a-comin'.

Hey Betty,

The procedure itself was not bad. As Joel said, they give you some killer drugs. I was out cold for most of it.

As Alan said, the golytely makes you "go heavily," and tastes pretty nasty. One tip I learned a bit too late was to mix the stuff the night before, or the morning before you use it, then stick it in the fridge.

Ice cold is better. Not yummy, but at least tolerable.

HUGS,

Mark

Hey Mark:
I had my colonoscopy and endoscopy last week -- ur right - the go-liytely is a misnomer - but I was prepared - didn't eat much solids the day before and bought wet wipes - I was also knocked out for all of mine.   If you check my post on My First Endoscopy and Colonscopy under Living With HIV you will see that they found a few things with me.  I'm not in a panic though --- they took out some polyps and something from my stomach that they think may be H. Pylori bacteria (which causes ulcers and can cause stomach cancer) - they are doing the biopsies - but I know it will be okay, no matter what.  Also, have the erosion in the esophagus - which I knew I had, some hemorrhoids - which I didn't know - and a hiatic hernia - which I didn't know...... but it is what it is --- a had the lemon lime go-lytely and had bought lemon lime Gatorade (cause I didn't know the go-lytely would be the same flavor).  I drank it through a straw every 10-15 minutes - just like they said - and it wasn't that bad ---- the straw helped me to put it down pretty quick and I just kept my mind on something else when I did it.  I'm glad to hear that yours went so well.   Beautiful--- did they give you the report that has all the pictures - in glorious color?  I have mine - love looking at them.
