HIV Chat Rooms?
« on: December 07, 2009, 04:10:09 am »
Can anyone recommend any online chat rooms designed for HIV positive people, all the ones I've been able to find are usually designed for gay men - which is fine but was just wandering if there were and more general chat rooms for all HIV suffers?

You want live synchronous chat, correct?
Good question.

Hi UK_SL

I don't know of any chat rooms of that type in the UK. Have you checked with THT?

They have rules, in the same way as we have rules here. I don't go there too often these days but when I do I onlly see people welcomed and ocassionally deleted if they are disrespectful to others. Try yahoo chat if you want a free for all or if you are looking for cyber sex.

You know, if you get to know a handful of people on this forum well enough there's nothing preventing you from making a small chat room on Skype or IRC.  Of course, you have to put in some time to get to know people on here well enough before moving on to that I guess.

As an aside, and I'm not intending to be rude, but if you really, really feel the need for something like a chat room have you considered moving beyond your computer screen and seeking out a real world support group in your area?  I would think that would be both more accommodating and mentally fulfilling.

I was thinking about doing that. I thought that there is a potential to get something out of that.
