How about universal coverage thru a single-payer system? Dump the insurers from the equation.  100%. SAVE money (insurers take 28 cents of every dollar now) on billing to be applied to covering everyone. Government becomes the payer (like Medicaid now). We have one of the most inefficient unequal "systems" of any industrialized society. USA all the way! #%$#%#%!

Sam.

I'm glad to hear things have worked out for now but I'm still nervous about Sept.  It just kills me that they make you jump through hoops like that.

Thanks, everyone for all your help and support.  I'll keep you posted.

Dixieman, where did you get your information?  Perhaps outdated?  Check out http://www.hivpositivemagazine.com/adap.html.  It's very up to date.  Alabama, as you will see, has no wating list at this time, thank god.  That's how I convinced them to cover me anyway.  Good luck!

Sam

Sam, The system is based on quarters per number of people applying for adapt... the numbers I put on the web stated as of nov 2006... alabama has now 1019 listed under Eligibility Determination Review... means they are under review to see if they comply for eligibility... the term used for enrollment is now called.. Capped Enrollment... New Figures will be posted for the next quarter... you are not on a waiting list if your under review... its a word ploy of terminology... to show AL has no waiting list... its all politics ask sonomabeach about all the cut backs and the stagnant funding available.... more people enrolling means less care per person...

Is there a website I could check?  I would like to check it out.  It sucks that they are turning people away.  Apparantly I was in bigger danger than I thought of losing coverage.  Thanks,
Sam
