this might be helpful to know...
« on: March 01, 2013, 10:23:19 pm »
Maybe I am alone on this issue but time and time again I see so many new people posting that for one reason or another choose to not disclose their age on their profile. (location often helps as well but that is another topic)
It often can make a difference how others reply.
I in no way want to "judge" someone based on age but let's be honest...
years on the planet does usually affect experience and can effect the response.
Every age has advantages and disadvantages "generally" speaking and the only reason that I am bringing the topic up for discussion is that I think it might often (not always) help us all be more able to understand and communicate.
Just a suggestion. :)

Just look at my profile, it says 45. But you people always think I'm lying about my age. Yes, 'tis true I am so beautiful young and vibrant, it's easy to see why yall think I'm only 30. ;)

Tex, at least the "87" gave us a clue. :)
Many people will not put their age in their profile but will often mention it in early posts.
It is just hard to remember.
I guess privacy is an issue for some as well.
Each to his/her own, but I think posting your age is beneficial.

Ha! Your profile also stated that your birthday was in December until you "changed your mind".
And um... thank you for the hottie comment.
I was a hottie in the 50's.

as far as myself, I was in the hospital on my 36th and 38th bdays with the doctors telling me I was about to die. I should have gone into the hospital on my 40th bday; but I was prepared to die at home if that was what was going to happen. Instead I'm about to celebrate turning 51 (in less than 2 wks), and of that I'm really, really happy :)

although I'm happy happy happy to not be dead (you know all that being in the hospital on my bday crap), I am going to be OVER fifty now!! :o and saying it like that does sorta suck.

so I could be brutally honest (and bust Teddy) or I could just lie too ;D and say that I'm lucky I'll only be 28 this year. (let me go change my profile fast ;) LOL) (OMG :o I just realized that 1985, when I would have to have been born to only be 28, is the very year I was infected with teh hiv!!)

Westside,
Looks like you figured out a way to post your age without your DOB.
Now, you just have to remember to update it each year yourself.
(No excuse for skipping a year or two now.... ;).)

Nobody can see your birth date in your profile. The only time anyone would have a clue is on your actual birthday, when a little birthday cake emoticon will appear next to your age. Someone would have to be determined to check your profile each and every day to discover your DOB.

Nobody can see your birth date in your profile. The only time anyone would have a clue is on your actual birthday, when a little birthday cake emoticon will appear next to your age. Someone would have to be determined to check your profile each and every day to discover your DOB.
But can't one look in the Calendar to find out ones birthday?

Oops, I just checked the calendar.
No more birthdays listed.
This must have recently been changed??

Jan you have to give DS a bit of latitude, he can be rather thick skulled at times. Plus he's in love with me and gets jealous real easy If I reach out to new members. ::)

Jan how the heck was I to know that? LMAO. So clearly Willy could be a Jock, just not a jock.

Willy, in your wildest dreams. The only thing I love about you is how easy you are to pick on, like a little sister and the torment that you receive from others always is a delight! Now go get Jocked and quit pretending to be a jock!  :D

ds you are forgiven for not knowing.

Will could be a Jock, if he were named after William the 1st. King of Scotand and actually came from Scotland.

My geography isn't the best, but I'm pretty sure Texas is not in Scotland, if it is then Jen and I are heading in the wrong direction in July.  ;D
