Ahmadinejad: On February 11, Islamic Republic's nuclear rights 'will be established'

"Giant achievements" by Iran will be unveiled by its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in the coming days, the Iranian Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

The Iranian news agency said an upcoming dramatic announcement on Iran's nuclear "rights" would be made on February 11. The report was accompanied by a series of announcements heralding alleged Iranian technological and medical breakthroughs, including an "AIDS cure."

Ahmadinejad's "administration is going to publicize the country's remarkable progresses and achievements within the coming days," the Fars news agency said.

"The Iranian president also reiterated that February 11 is the day when the Iranian nation's inalienable right to access and use nuclear technology will be established," the agency added.

"The Iranian nation will celebrate stabilization and establishment of its nuclear rights during the Ten-Day Dawn, (sic)" Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying. The "ten-day dawn" in early February marks the date of the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979.

"When a nation decides to stand on its own feet to climb up the peaks, God helps it and that nation will embrace victory," Ahmadinejad said.

The Iranian government's boasts of "great achievements" included an announcement on Saturday that Iranian scientists have "introduced an AIDS cure".

"After seven long years of arduous work, Iranian scientists here on Saturday introduced a herbal medicine which cures Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)," Fars reported.

"The drug named 'IMOD' is completely effective and safe with no proven side effects," Iran's Minister of Health Kamran Bagheri Lankarani claimed during a ceremony.

"The world should know today that the capable Iranian nation, relying on its own youths and scientists, has now conquered the peaks of knowledge and science," Ahmadinejad declared during his speech.

Iran introduces new AIDS treatment
TEHRAN, Feb. 3 (MNA) -- Health Minister Kamran Baqeri Lankarani announced here on Saturday that Iran’s scientists have produced a herbal medicine that helps control the HIV/AIDS virus.
The drug improves the immunity system against the HIV/AIDS virus and can be used besides other anti-retroviral drugs, Baqeri Lankarani said at a ceremony held to introduce the AIDS control medicine and appreciate the medical achievements by Iranian researchers.

The herbal drug called IMOD, is the result of five years of research and has been tested on 200 patients. It boosts the human body’s immunity system in a 90-day treatment course and a 2-year follow up.

“Deficiency of the body’s immune system reflects a decrease in CD4 cells that lead to appearance of AIDS symptoms,” he said, adding that the new drug controls the multiplication of HIV virus and thus helps increasing the CD4 cells.

The herbs used in production of IMOD are completely Iranian native plants, he noted.

Iran is the only country in the region that provides free HIV drugs to the patients, Baqeri Lankarani said.

Iran’s top AIDS expert and Head of the Iranian AIDS Research Center Minoo Mohraz stated in the ceremony, “A medicine that is used for curing AIDS, should be completely secure and reliable,” and this is applied in the new medicine.

“The new medicine’s dose is much smaller than that used in anti-retroviral drugs,” she said, adding that the immunity system of 65 percent of the patients was completely increased in 21 months and there were no noticeable side effects.

“I believe that the drug should be used for HIV patients whose CD4 is below 350, to prevent them from entering the severe level of AIDS,” she stated.

The drug also decreases cell receivers and thus fewer viruses can enter the cells, however, other effects of the drug are still being studied, she added.

God, don't these other nations realize only the United States and a select few other countries should have nuclear weaponry? Remember back to the good old days when it was only a parallel race with the dirty soviets and the world's protector, the USA, wasting billions of dollars on ever-deadlier devices? Remember how Ronald Reagan bankrupted future generations by spending such obscene amounts on our defense even hard-headed Ruskies threw in the towel. Now we deal with the inevitable surfacing of other global neighbors asserting the same rights the USA and other countries enjoy. Oh, joy.

Whilst rather sceptical, I'm not prepared to write off the claim simply because it comes from Iran. Granted, it doesn't sound like a potential cure, but the prospect of a herbal approach to controlling the virus without the toxic side effects of our current regimens sounds great to me. I'd jump at the chance. 200, hardly seems like an exhaustive trial though.

jack, Iran has never said it has nukes. The rhetoric is that they are developing nuclear technology for peaceful purposes only, like power generation.

Whatever. My point was,they dont have nukes,cause if they did Israel would have already taken them out(if we dont have the balls) and they dont have a cure or treatment for HIV.

Jack I find this to be true as well. Picture this, Iran, the US and Israel at a table "discussing" Irans Nuclear program. Iran and the US get into a heated arguement which escalates into a shouting match. KA-BOOOOOM! Nuclear Explosion at Irans Nuclear facility. Iran and the US look at Israel quizzically as if to say "what the FUCK was that?" And Israel shrugs his shoulders and feigning innocence says "What?" Pushing away from the table he smiles broadly as a politician towards lobbyists he cant stand and quips, "I think we are done here, no?" And turns to walk out of the room.

This is what will happen! LOL (And by the way would be a great sketch on SNL!)
