Having gonorhea and chlamydia in Mexico ... Any tips?

Hi I just came to Mexico and noticed I have gonOrhea and maybe chlamydia ( which comes with it usually ) ... Burning penis by peeing , yellow pus coming out , anal itching and red eyes ... I can not go to see a doctor as I have no insurance here and I am traveling to a jungle area !!... But there are cheap pharmacies around here ... Does anyone know what you prescribe in this case usually ??

When I had gonorrhea I received some kind of injection in my buttocks at a doctor's office, and then took a course of anti-biotics. As far as what kind I have no idea as it was too long ago.

If I was travelling in Mexico and had this happen I would just cough up the money for a local doctor. I read your old posts and you are skating around with something like 250 cd4, and having this happen in a foreign country. I would feel very uncomfortable not having it attended to professionally.

Sometimes. Depends it it's resistant or not and whether you take it for 2-3 weeks or not.

Agree with Miss Philicia.  I too remember a shot in the buttocks, and then a course of antibiotics following.  Think it is a good idea to go a doctor and get the right treatment just to be sure.

Nomatter, I merged your two threads on the same subject. It makes it easier for everyone when you keep posts about the same subject in one thread.

I also think you need to go to a doctor and get this properly treated. There are resistant strains out there and you need to take this seriously.

If you use the searchable aids organisation database at aidsmap.com hopefully you'll find somewhere near you where they can advise you on where you can get low-cost STI treatment. (A search for All in Mexico returns 45 hits.) There's bound to be an STI clinic somewhere, particularly if you are in or near a big city like Mexico City.

Good luck - and please do your best to get this dealt with by a professional. Untreated chlamydia and/or gonorrhea can cause other problems down the road.

my roommate just had ghonorrhea, he said he got it from a BJ, but i have my doubts, he gave it to his BF as well, but both got two shots, one in each check and a course of hight powered antibiotic call cephlosporin.  I'm not sure how long they took the antibiotic, but i think it was 30 days

Don't know about ghonorrhea or clamydia, but if you don't speak Spanish and are looking for an English-speaking doctor, the website of the US embassy in Mexico might be a good starting point.
I've used their recommendation once and found a great dentist that way.

 You do not need to have insurance in Mexico..It is not difficult to find a doctor..I have had to visit doctors on my last visit. Although, not for STDs, they are relatively inexpensive. You can usually get a visit for under $40 US (400 pesos or less). And meds are way cheaper than in the US..
 Like the others already said, I would not try to self diagnose this. You need a professional opinion..

It is a well-documented fact that one can indeed get gonorrhea orally. There is less evidence concerning oral chlamydia, but the evidence we do have points to it also being a reality.

Gonorrhea is passed on through penetrative sex, including:

    -vaginal sex
    -anal sex
    -oral sex - oral sex can either transmit gonorrhea from the genitals to the throat of the person giving the stimulation, or it can pass an infection from the throat to the genitals of the person receiving stimulation.

Less often it can be transmitted by:

    -a person using their mouth and tongue to lick or suck another person's anus;
    -a person putting fingers into the vagina, anus or mouth of someone infected with gonorrhea, then touching their own mouth, genitals or anus without washing their hands in between. source

Gonorrhea often has no obvious symptoms. Scary, eh?
