Pink Eye
« on: October 11, 2013, 07:22:11 pm »
I think I have Pink-eye.

I've never had Pink eye before but I just diagnosed myself via the internet (crazy I know).

Its blood red in the whites of the eye and feels like sandpaper, a bit itchy but not burning, just uncomfortable with alot of fluid in there. It's only in one eye.

Has anyone else had Pink eye, do I need to go to the doctor or can I muddle through it?

If I go to a doctor, would it be my regular doc or an eye doc? (where is Bonnie when we need her).

Any comments would be appreciated.

-Will

Its really contagious also .

You may have caught it from a grandkid, so be very careful around them while you still have it.  It's easily treated, so you will live.   8)

Just repeating what Jeff and Joe said really.

Pinkeye or conjunctivitis is very common, it's not that not serious and can go away in 7 to 10 days without medical treatment, but some ointment or drops from the Doc will certainly help, just go to your regular GP.

Most cases of pinkeye are caused by either viruses, bacteria or dry eyes from lack of tears or exposure to wind and sun, quite common really, so go and watch a girlie movies and weep a little it might help, but remember it can be quite contagious so don't go sharing any hankies with anyone.  ;)

I had pink eye about 30 years ago.  Agree with what others have said.  You should go to an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) and get a prescription for eye drops to clear the infection. You should be fine in about 10 days.

Take care.

Willy. Home remedy for pink eye.

Buy some Johnson's and Johnson's baby shampoo.  Put some on a clean soft cloth. Get it wet and lather it up and wash your eye, with your eye open several times a day.

Don't be fancy, just get dancey

Surely going to see an ophthalmologist would be a lot more expensive than just seeing your local Doc, I know here in NZ it's cheaper to see the local than it is the specialist.

Does it have a thick mucousy substance coming out of it?  If it does it is bacterial pinkeye. And if it does have a thick mucousy substance coming out of it NO ONE wants to sleep with you - plumpie or not.

Yes there is some yellow mucousy stuff that comes from it. Especially when I wake up in the mornings, it looks like dried boogers around my eye.

It's in both eyes now. I look horrid. and have started taking Excedrin due to some minor pain in the eyes.

If it gets any worse over night I will go to doc. sigh. As much as I hate too.

PS- this is San Antonio someone will sleep with me... bad eye or not

I don't understand people's reluctance to go to a doctor when something is wrong?  If I am experiencing something beyond normal, run of the mill viruses, I go to the doctor.  Amazingly, that works out to, MAYBE, one or two such visits a year.
If one is wondering whether they should go -- they probably should.  Even if all you get is peace of mind.

Hope your eyes get better soon Wumpy -- ain't no one going to want to mount you with pus filled peepers.  Oh -- of course you know to stay far away from your beautiful granddaughter until after you are healed!!

Hugs,
M

Actually Guilhermina texted me an hour ago that she was going to the doctor, but since  it's Sunday I was confused and picked up the phone. Seems this has taken a sudden turn for the worse and she's going to some walk-in clinic right now.

I caught pink eye from my niece and nephew when I was in high school. No, I didn't sleep with them.

Today though I have something even grosser than Willie. Every time I sneeze a polyp flies out of my nose. The last one looked necrotic.

At least I think they came out of my nose.

Yuck!!!!

I had forgotten - I've actually had it twice.  The other time was from when a stupid woman at work KNEW she had it and refused to stay home.  The entire office caught it.

I'm fine. Just a bad bad case of Pink eye, no that's not Jizz coming out of my left eye, that is infected mucous. You're welcome.

Doc gave me an ointment (like yall said) and an oral antibiotic since I was complaing of pain behind my eye to rule out any infections back there. Plus I scored some pain pills ;) Life is good again. Now I'm going to bed and turning on football.

Will - I hope you didn't use the same tweezers on your eyebrows as on your butthairs like in "Harold and Kumar". I think I know how you got the pinkeyes.

Jan - of course I'm going to the dr. I called my ENT 15 minutes ago.  If I have blood, chest pain, trouble breathing or a high fever go to the ER. That's how Habersham rolls.

I threw the polyp down the drain but found a pic of one on the internet. NSFW

LOL - I think your eyes might be leaking inside too - clearly you have a brain fog if you think the  cow paddies are a "real team" this year!!  Didn't Romo, just last week throw the ball to a Bronco at the end of that game??  Thus letting Denver remain undeafted...........

That aside. No other team, including the hapless Patriots, can put up 48 points against the Broncos like Dallas did.

Maybe.  Maybe Not.  This Denver team is a tough one, but what good are 48 points, when it is still less than the opponent.  Might as well as been 0 -- you still lost.

Also -- "hapless Patriots" -- Ha....  better lay off those pain pills.  What is Dallas' record?  The Pats are 5-1 and now they have Brady's one bad game behind him.........

Much better thanks. Except I hate the antibiotic gel I have to put in 4 times a day. It's like trying to see with an eyeful of Vaseline.

Antibiotic gel? Dealt with pinkeye as a child and with my kids. All we ever got were eye drops in a Visine-like bottle. A drop in each eye twice a day and the itch and redness was gone in a couple of days. Had to continue the drops for a week to make sure the infection was gone.

You know, I dont think I've EVER slept with a virgin. :-\ Maybe I should put that on my bucket list?

IMHO, virgins are overrated. I'm way past the point I want to be someone's first time. Give me someone who knows what they want and how they want it.
Reality is frequently inaccurate.

It's a horrible gel "Erythromicin Opthalmic Gel", seriously the same consistency as Vaseline. It's written to apply "1 ribbon of gel" 4x daily to the inside of eyelid for 10 days. So I have to literally pull my eyelid out from the eyeball and shoot the gel in there. Im only doing it 2x a day now.

But it has worked amazingly.
