Alas no news yet peoples. Matty the Damned was in meetings all day yesterday and has another engagement today. If he's not heard anything by tonight he'll give the Buckled One a phone call.

News has just arrived via Miss Melia.

Buckles is still in hospital and looks likely to remain so for about a week. Needless to say the Cabal will stay in contact with him and keep y'all up to date.

Much thanks to Miss Melia for making contact.

Just got off the phone with Buck-Buck who seems to have a rather nasty MRSA. He's being treated round the clock with heavy duty antibiotics and a hospital staffed petrified to enter his room. Looks like the Buckmeister will be in the hospital for another week. The staff infection is responding slowly but prognosis is good.

Some more news from the Buck-Front, why not?

I've just gotten off the phone with the Buckled One who is doing well, though he's not out of the woods just yet. He's being sustained with percocet, vancomycin and pizza smuggled in by his roomie.

Yay pizza!! :)

He has to pee in a bottle, but those who read his blog articles will know that's pretty mild by his standards.

As Doxelle mentioned above he has a very serious MRSA infection which began on his knee and has spread through most of his leg. He was lucky to get to hospital when he did -- apparently he was hours away from losing his leg. This is seriously "in the nick of time" type stuff.

He's also received a printed copy of this thread to read which will cheer him up no end. He says to tell you he loves all of you.

But he still loves MtD most of all.  :P

Bucko you must get better soon! I have been told from some of our AM family that you have the most wonderful, delicious, sexy voice which I hope to someday have the privilege of hearing!

I am wishing you a week of not horrible hospital food, and hopefully not a huge amount of blood cultures taken, which usually seem to be drawn between 2am-4am...

Hugs and kisses that you feel better soon!

Hi Brent~

I was just posting in the "Crisco Disco" thread the other day, wondering where you had been for nearly three weeks!  I am so sorry that you're in the hospital.  I hope that the printout of this thread has lifted your spirits some!  We miss you so much around here!

Thanks to Matty, Melia and Aunty for the updates!

Feel better soon, Brent!  I'm sorry that this was so serious, initially!  We can't have anything happen to our Bucko!   :o

I must agree with whoever's said that. Normally I find it tedious to listen to people talking for long periods of time, but Brent's voice is very soothing and easy to listen to. I could listen to him talk for hours.

Thanks for the updates. Sounds like a rough siege to get through, Bucko.

Pissing in a bottle. Oy. I hope you can at least sit up while you're doing it. Pissing while laying down has been beyond my ability since age 9 months or so. You on the other hand I know are capable of many wonderful things so it might just be pee off a duck's back for you.

Thinking of you and wish you well whether you're sitting up or laying down, Bucko.

Big cheers,

Buck-Buck Update:

Just got off the phone with Bucko and his treatment seems to be heading in the right direction. The major problem is the toxic antibiotic IV continues to collapse veins and must be constantly moved. His Doc thinks he might be released this weekend, but Buck thinks Tuesday will be the day.

I read him your responses and he was deeply moved.

I spoke to His Depravity earlier today and he is doing rather well. His leg and arm are healing and he can hobble short distances. He has one final vancomycin infusion to go. As Doxie mentioned the antibiotics are very toxic and his veins have started to collapse. He has phlebitis in one of his arms.

It is expected that he will be discharged tomorrow.

Glad to know Bucko's getting sprung soon.

Just as a point of information, will he get to keep his pee bottle as a souvenir and maybe use it as a vase?

Cheers, Bucko.

The Depraved One is free!!

He's sitting on the balcony at home with his friend Marcus, kvetching like the old shiksa he is. Much love he sends to you all.

Tomorrow he intends to setup his computer (not so technical he is, but what can you do?) and fill you all in with the fruity details.

Oy!

To all my adoring public-

I have much to tell you, which will have to wait for a different thread. My inability to post anything more intricate than an emoticon in fewer than 90 minutes means that I will require several hours to get it all right.

Suffice it to say that I worked that wheelchair with much aplomb, much like an more alluring but slightly less masculine version of Blanche Hudson. Although the hospital room was air conditioned, I rarely doffed more than a pair of designer boxer briefs (which, as underwear, get precious little usage but as loungewear were quite becoming), much to the horror of the various Christian women of color who were sent in to check my vitals and empty the wastebaskets as I lay above the sheets.

I addition to the hospital staff and my new roomie (about whom all will be discussed in the promised, forthcoming thread), I have been cared for slavishly by a 24-year old fistbottom who waits on me hand and foot, bringing my Italian food and wheeling me around for Starbucks tea and many cigarettes.

My knee swelled up quite a bit last night, my first night home, and began leaking vanilla pudding anew. My skills at bandaging need much improvement, but so far everything's staying on. The swelling has gone way down from a knee the size of a cantelope and thighs I haven't had since I was 28, but the itch/burn with sharp painful moments remains. My right forearm is doing much better than my leg, but is still a nasty thing to see.

My left arm was used for IVs, and was punctured nine times in six days (or so I remember in the hospital fog). It is half-shaved and swollen, with painful reminders of 20-gauge needles in several places.

I am in desperate need of a shave.

The phone calls I received did much to lift my spirits, and this "get well" thread moved me deeply. Thank you to all who have inquired. I love you all.

Oh my God, it's worse than I expected, the infection has spread to your brain. I think it's rule number 34 in The Homo Handbook, never, ever, turn down pain-killers.

Glad you're home and on the mend sweetness.

Indeed it is.  In fact, the "34" in my profile name is really a reference to that very rule.

Welcome home, Buckles.

You disobeyed Rule 34???  ::)  :-\ ~shakes head~

Sounds like a trip to the nearest ER/street corner is in order for some redemptive therapy.

Glad to hear you're back home, Brent. Take care of yourself and get well soon!  :-*

Brent, glad you are being waited on hand and foot as befits your station. You deserve it.      Sorry you had to be in the hospital  but do not be so brave, call your doctor and have him phone a scription in for you.Never, ever turn down pain meds. you can always keep them for later.                                                                                             Will be awaiting your next thread eagerly. Hope you are back to normal soon. Love  Cristy. Pm me if i can be of service.

Upon closer examination of my arm, I've discovered that the wick was never removed from the incision. This will involve a follow-up visit, at which point pain medication seems only decent.

I have been in and out of 5 different hospitals in the past 12 months and my rule is if "morphine or other painkillers are offered - TAKE THEM AND ENJOY!!!"

I am glad to see that you are back Bucko and sincerely hope that all goes well for you - in the meantime I am back to hospital in 10 days time again and look forward to more regular sedation.

Welcome back
