Did I infect my Wife
« on: April 30, 2014, 05:55:15 pm »
Thank you all for doing so much good on this forum. I feel disgust and loathing for myself right now . My wife has been sick with pneumonia symptoms since January . She has had chest X-rays which showed shadow on them. They treated her for pneumonia several times with antibiotics without success . She then had a ct scan last month that ruled out cancer but was diagnosed with asymptomatic mycobacterium in her right lobe lung. They are now doing sputum tests and will send her to a bronchial specialist. I understand these results are very common with HIV. She also has some swelling in neck lymph nodes. Still working and doing day to day activities, just a bit tired.
I have been going to massage parlours for many years and receiving hand jobs and covered oral. I did have covered vaginal and anal sex 2.5 years ago  with a female sex worker and was tested 3 months later which was negative . At the massage parlour I used the hot tub many times. I have no symptoms . If I did infect my wife I really doubt I can live with myself . She is a person who deserves so much more. Sorry for the long post. Also can a negative result change after many years? Thank you

Nothing that you have done put you at risk of contracting HIV. Whatever is going on with your wife has nothing to due with you being the cause.

RapidRod is right, you have nothing to do with what your wife is experiencing.  Her issues involve pulmonary and that is not something you could have transmitted to her and you are reliably negative and have had no risks.

Hi sorry but not sure of what it means when you say my wife's illness is pulmonary ? Are these symptoms ( mycobacterial infection) not specific to hiv ? Very worried about her and how she would contract this lung infection. Like I say her neck lymph nodes are swollen as well. Everything I have read on line about a mycobacterial lung infection links it frequently to hiv ? Thank you again.

Bacterial infections happen for many reasons.  You did not give your wife HIV as you are negative.  Her illness has nothing to do with HIV.

Hi, my wife had a bronch scope to test the bacteria in her lung. They found it was a mycobacteria Avium complex. The doctors asked her if she would have been exposed to HIV. Her symptoms have not gotten worse but is still tired and with a cough and sore lymph nodes. I just took a oral quick test and it showed me negative . Could this test be wrong ? I am still very worried this is something I have passed on to her. Sorry for taking up your time with this.

You do not have HIV so its impossible for you to have infected your wife with a virus you do not have . You have a couple of negative HIV test and our assessment, if that's not enough to assure you then there is nothing more we can do for you .

2,

You absolutely cannot know your wife's hiv status going by YOUR test results. Your wife should do her own test.
