Title: Goodbye Matty, Hello Matilda
Post by: WillyWump on September 20, 2010, 12:31:14 pm
Matty is getting his nuts sliced and diced today. Before everyone breaks out in Champagne and applause I'm referring to my Kitty Matty, not our resident Matty.

Had to get up at 6am to take him to The SPCA,  he knew something was up when I didnt feed him immediately upon getting up. I left his cage out and open last night so he could get acclimated to it, but he wasnt having it this morning. He fought me tooth and nail getting into the cage, and then moaned and cried the whole way to the SPCA. I felt so bad.

In the parking lot I came across an old lady who has hunched over a walker and trying to carry 2 cages. Of course being the good Boy Scout I am I insisted that I carry her cages for her. Quite an interesting old lady, she is retired and traps feral cats and then brings them to the SPCA to get them fixed and get their shots, and then releases them again. She said she wishes she could keep them all, but she already had 5 in her house. Such an amazing person, hardly able to walk but yet is doing all she can to put a dent into the stray population. We need more people like her. Very touching.

The San Antonio SPCA is quite a phenomenal place. i learned they have a 95% save rate on strays, and by 2014 will be entirely a no kill shelter. That's a good thing. The place is huge and very progressive in it's treatment of pets. It sits on 4 acres and the whole facilty is enclosed within gates, as soon as you enter the gates you are greeted by  resident cats that run free within the facility (all adoptable), there are also a few dogs running around inside. They have like a Jungle gym type thing for cats, and you can see kitties all over and inside the Jungle Gym, all running free within the confines of the yard. Of course they also have the classic prison type cells of a shelter, but it was so good to see them let alot of these animals run free and play with the people. After I dropped Matty off I spent another 30 minutes playing with all the kitties.

Such a great place.

I pick up Ms. Matty this afternoon :)

I'm thrilled to hear Matty is getting neutered.

At least you're not having him circumcised. :)

Good to know that you took care of this.  Too many kittens and pups out there without somebody to give them a home.

One of those tiny little jam jars one gets in gift baskets?

Such a waste.  I would have stir fried them with green peppers and onions and made a nice breakfast burrito.

But of course, darling! It even has a teeny-tiny frilly ruff around the lid. :)

Naw, I want to keep them with me forever and ever.

you should add those little glittery snow-like crystals to it, so you can shake it and make it snow around the nuts --- and perhaps a little music box added on with "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" playing... and matty's nuts just floatin w/ a light snow coming down....

Good for you.  I was given a kitty in Uni.  Loved him to bits (he moved in with my grand after I left Texas for NYC).  I got a bit emotional when I took him in to have his procedure (and again when I picked him up).  I didn't want him to suffer.  He gots lots of treats/food that week.  A couple of days and he was back to his old self, to the detriment of my sofa and bed.

Yes, but I keep only Matty's on my bedside table. The rest get chucked into a big pickled egg jar and the jar goes in the back of my spare wardrobe. The egg jar doesn't have frills either. I just checked and I think I'm going to need a second egg jar soon. The one I'm currently using is nearly full.

and then you sit him on your lap so he can feel your nuts -- that's just cruel Will -- just so so cruel.  Way to rub it in on lil Matty Matilda.  ;D

Aww, Matty is such a cute lil fella. I sure hope that vehicle was not in motion when he was on your lap like that. The safest place for a cat is in a carrier when driving. Wouldn't want to stop short and have a kitten go flying across the car and smack you in the head now would we? Hope all's going well with his recovery!

Yes, yes, I was a bad boy having him ride in my lap. But I couldnt bare to ahve him crying and freaking out in the cage. I normally dont do that, but did this time.

As far as recovery, he seems to be fine, he's snagged a half loaf of bread out of my pantry and has been carrying the whole thing around in his mouth, its so funny, the loaf is bigger than him. I figure id let it go for a few more minutes since he just got in from the doc. Just will have to buy some more bread tomorrow. and yes, I do feed him. Hes just weird and likes bread.

Well, now that you mention it he did - except it must have been some kind of birth defect because it was in the front of him instead of the back....would that still be called a tail?

Transporting the hateful thing on your knee in the car was stupid. Road safety and all that. You should invest in some sort of cat transport management device.

I like the look of this one:

I used to have one of those - but never thought about using it to transport cats - what a novel idea - I liked my use of it more  :o

Hey Will,

Bob Barker would have been so proud but over the years, I have been in the CH 5 studios in L.A. many times trying to get on The Price Is Right and most people use that in their studio audience interviews.  Rod Roddy never called out "Choofnhurl, come on down."  One time a Navy officer who was seated right behind me was called, he won new living room furniture but he lived on a ship...  For that game show, it takes 4 hours of waiting in line just to get seated in the studio.   ;D  Have the best day

OMG Willy, too funny. It was probably just the warm stimulation, cats' body temps being warmer than ours and all. Heaven forgive you if you were fantasizing about getting it on with Matty or something. Though that does make me think of the number of times I've seen ads on craigslist for guys wanting K9. Ewww. Please tell me you're not into bestiality!?!

You are sooo lucky to have a kitty!  Shortly after Deep Throat was released, Larry Flynt congratulated Linda Lovelace on her performance in another film where, he said she made it with a shaved afgan hound.  She said she didn't do that film and filed suit against Mr. Flynt and Hustler Magazine.  Mr. Flynt said it was a work of art, she should be proud and counter sued Ms. Lovelace.  Either way, most people do not experience this level of joy (even in California), you are so very lucky to have a trans gender cat...  ;D  Have the best day

The lack of "nice pussy" commentary has elevated this discussion. I am honored to be a part of it.
