kickin some microscopic HIV bootay
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:13:07 pm »
Late yesterday afternoon one of the assistant for my primary doc called to say that my labs from two weeks ago were back and substantially unchanged from four months before (see my sig line), but she did not leave numbers on my voicemail.  I went by his office this morning to retrieve a copy of the labs, and the lead lab nurse encouraged me to not be concerned over the little dip in CD4s, given that my CD8s were rising to the occasion... I had already suspected a CD8 spike, as I have had non-specific aches for a few weeks, and it was good to see that the viral load remained contained.

Next stop will be early morning on 26 September to mark 156 weeks.  I get to do routine labs and give up extra blood for study.  I hope that I have some decent veins that day!

Best,
David

Looks like you are still doing well David, which is certainly good news.

Keep up whatever it is you are doing.

Thanks, all, for the good wishes.  I'm not doing anything special, except for not letting myself get stressed out over school (two classes this summer) or being unemployed and avoiding infections that would distract my immune system.

My job search has gotten rather crazy in a very good way during the last few days, to the extent that I passed on the first offer given to me.  It seemed like a great opportunity, though a longer commute than I have done in a while at 14 miles each way "against traffic," but the vacation and education benefits turned out to be sub-par, and they wouldn't meet the bonus counter-offer which I proposed to make up for the benefit shortcomings.  Too bad, as now I have several other firms eagerly pursuing me with far better benefits and salary and bonus structures that would make me happy.  Those firms range from small, edgy tech firms to a multi-billion-dollar firm where I would have never thought of working until a recruiter reassured me that they were not as uptight I had imagined.

Hi David,
It's good to hear your doing well without your meds.  My meds come with side effects I would really like to live without, but my counts are really good.  I have been taking sustiva and truvada for a couple of years.  I would like to take a vacation eventually and was wondering if you might have some info to share with me.  My doctor was kind of against the idea and has basically told me I HAVE to stay on them.  I am a very indenpendent soul and do not appreciate anyone telling me I HAVE to do anything!!  But I also realize this can get me into trouble, so I try to keep it in check ;)

2000 - seroconverted
2005 - cd4 350, VL 113,000
3/06 - started sustiva/truvada
3/08 - cd4 1,300 VL >50(undet.)
