Tested positive 1 month ago. Dr.prescribed Complera yesterday.
« on: December 19, 2013, 05:02:48 pm »
Hi
First time poster, but have been reading threads since my diagnosis.  Thank you for helping me through a horrible month.  I contracted in November 2011, diagnosed on 11-12-13.  Saw ID doc yesterday and he prescribed Complera.  My CD4 was 308 & VL was 46,000.  I have insurance but my deductible is high and rolling over on the 1st.  I have co pay assistance, but my first 90 day supply is too much for me to afford right now.  It will be this time next month before I will be able to pay for my meds.  Will I be alright waiting a month?  After I hit my deductible I will 0 out of pocket costs for meds.  I plan to talk to my doc,but thought I'd ask here first.  Thanks

Have you talked to an ASO (AIDS Service organization)?  They may be able to help you.  If a 90 day is too much why not go with a 30 day supply?

Hi Msnyder, welcome to the forums.

You may qualify for Gilead's Complera co-pay assistance program. <--click on the link to find out how to apply.

I wish more doctors would tell their patients about these co-pay programs!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
