Pos Aidsmeds members by location?
« on: August 04, 2009, 10:58:28 am »
I was trying to find a way to list members on aidsmeds by location (for those that wish to divulge location in their profile summary). I also was thinking it would be interesting to hear what it is like to be pos and living with hiv in various countries. How the medical treatment is, in general. How well the country treats its hiv citizens as to insurance, availability of meds, doctors, and assistance programs. And when it comes to assistance programs, how effective they are in meeting needs.
Since this forum covers, I would guess, everywhere. And has pos members from, everywhere, it would be interesting (at least to me) to read how life is in your country living with hiv.
I know some wish to be anonymous as to location... That's fine. But for those who list a location, it could be interesting reading. Education. Actually a vast amount of information is setting right here, on aidsmeds. It would be interesting to organize that information as to country or location, when it comes to treatment, assistance, costs, meds and other items of interest. (I would think)
I guess Im not looking for a long running thread as much as some sort of database thing, with comments (if desired).

Ps. I realize ones experience can be different as to where you live and overall treatment compared to others in the same country. But it would be interesting.

Thanks Ann. Naturally i missed those.
A lot of Texans here...
Would be interesting to database everyone as to location, and treatment stats in their area.
I'd like to know, by doing that if it were possible, to nail down problem areas/state/countries.
Especially those not getting or finding adequate treatment and poor med availability, either cost issues
and or options available.
it Would be interesting to, going by treatment stats, which meds are most popular, and other treatment
statics per member.

Hey Randy, sounds like you've set yourself up with quite a project! ;D

I'm not surprised you missed those threads, I had quite a time digging them up for you. And you're welcome, btw.

I think you may find at least some of the information you're looking for lurking somewhere in the depths of the CDC website. Of course it wouldn't be specific to these forums and it would only include the US, but you'd get a clearer over-all picture.

If you've got the time and inclination and the ability with spread-sheets, it would be interesting to see what you come up with. You could post your findings as an attachment - I'm pretty sure that MS Excel is one of the supported formats in the attachment thingy.

Good luck!

Ann

PS, You might find some additional information in the "Introduce Yourself" threads in both the LTS and Women's forums. (and remember, no posting in the Women's forum! ;) )
