Stupid viral-induced freakout.

I meant to post this last week but forgot about it until now.

I have come to realize that HIV has often caused me to pay attention to my body... and sometimes far too closely, as this story will illustrate.

I had been playing in the snow with my little brother and came in to take a shower.

While in the shower, I noticed a large reddish-brown, painless blotch on my foot.

Guess what I immediately thought, undetectable viral load or not.  Yeah, KS.  Moment of mental panic...

I avoided having a major freakout while in the shower and went about with my washing... and while I washed my foot, I realized that the damn thing was washing off.

It was dye from my shoe that had soaked through my sock when I was out in the snow.

I guess that I learned that it pays to pay attention to your body... but make sure it's a part of your body in the first place.  ;)

It's kinda scary, seeing something new pop up on your body. I go through the same thoughts, as I'm sure we all do. Glad it was the dye! ;D

I thought it might have been that "pile of poo" that you tossed in front of your ins company last week and that you may have inadvertently upon delivery, stepped in, on your quick exit.  Thank God it was only shoe polish...

I'm glad it was just shoe dye and you could easily take care of the problem. 

Your fear of KS wasn't irrational.  It's one of the few OI's that can attack a person with a CD4 well above 200, undectectable or not.

Elizabeth is spot on Baby Benj. Matty the Damned was diagnosed with KS when his CD4's were around 450 and his percentage was in the high 20's.

The lesion was tiny. My doctor, the notorious Frau Eva, spotted it by chance on my elegant finger.

Oh this is great, where was my doctor when he was to explain body searches for KS ??  I never got that pamphlet...  crap...

I think they were a bit too busy telling us what a chronic and manageable disease we have to mention that to us.

Well when I go down to Denver for labs next monday I am going to prepare with the shoe polish and ask hiim "You forgot to mention" and scare the shit out of em... ;)

I am happy to know that it washed itself away. I feel myself checking my body every morning and any tiny change in my body freaks me out. HIV really plays mind games.
