Hello I'm a new member. Anyone taking generics of Truvada and Viramune

Hi everyone. I've been living with HIV since the early 1980's. I responded very well to Crixavan when it came out in 1996 and have been on Truvada & Viramune since around 2004. My insurance is going up to $1,138.00 a month but the company I work for offers us a health plan, which we pay for $466.00 a month but their drug rider does not cover my meds. I'm thinking about switching to the new insurance and buying generics from a Canadian pharmacy. Has anyone else used these? Thanks, Greg

I have 3 suggestions about your meds that you may or may not have tried
1) have you checked into any of the payment assistance programs for those meds?

2) are you eligible for ADAP? Or do you make too much, or are in of the 11 states with a waiting list?
3) is there a nearby ASO that can assist you with this issue?

Welcome from one new member to another. Yes, I recently ( 2 months ago ) switched to generic Truvada as my health insurance requested I do so as it is less costly than the original. Of course I consulted with my Physician who gave the go-ahead. According to him the critical makeup of the drug is still the same ingredients and I have had no issues since taking it. My new tests are due shortly and I will advise on the results.
